Re: Jamie Cox - Head of Football
He is a bloody good Cricket Commentator, so lest hope he as good an administrator if he gets the role !
If I am right he was originally from Burnie TAS and was a very handy footballer himself but chose the cricket path.

Strange call considering he was sacked in May for some salary cap breaches..
Sure the club has done it's due diligence.. Chris Pelchen must be extremely unlikable because although good at his job got essentially replaced by a cricketer..

Under the Club’s new football structure, executive level responsibility for recruitment, list management, contract negotiations, salary cap compliance and integrity resides with Saints’ COO & Legal Counsel, Ameet Bains..."

"Cox, recruited by ABC Radio as an expert commentator for the first Test, has publicly said little about his sacking, which is widely considered in cricket circles to have been harsh."
"In the aftermath of the sacking, the Australian Cricketers' Association called for an amnesty, believing the actions Cox had been sacked for were rife throughout the competition."
I don't know much about it but it sounds like he's getting a free pass on that one. I wonder what Brian Waldron's doing these days, maybe we can find him a spot?

Re: Jamie Cox - Head of Football
They weren't salary cap breaches, or anything related to dodgy contracts or hiding payments. The BBL has an embargo on discussing contracts with new prospects, or even talking about extending existing contracts, until an arbitrary date.bergholt wrote:The original article FQF posted said:Hallalj#3 wrote:Strange call considering he was sacked in May for some salary cap breaches..

In Cox's case he got the bullet from his BBL gig, and only his BBL gig, and the SACA got fined. A little further down the track a couple of other state associations got fined for the same thing (talking contracts too soon), but no-one got the sack.
I think that's why many thought Cox was harshly dealt with.

When he was at the Australian Cricket Academy he was playing reserve grade football with Glenelg in SANFL. A certain S.K. Warne did the same.WinnersOnly wrote:He is a bloody good Cricket Commentator, so lest hope he as good an administrator if he gets the role !
