Not a fan of this at all - IMO the 1 position small forward (Milne role) is too 1 dimensional. If he can't go midfield what's the point??

Don't get it at all - Petracca plays mid AND kicks goals resting forward (think what Ablett adds for Suns doing this).
Why won't Lonie be able to push into the midfield eventually like a Matthew Stokes or Michael Walters?

We couldn't risk Petracca after he totally bombed his psych testing - and not just once. Richo is close to his family so may have seen the flaws first hand. I hope the kid makes it but he could just as easily become a headache for Melbourne within a couple of years. I think it was a good result that he doesn't have the pressure of being number one and is going to Melbourne with a good mate who is a natural leader.

Having a look at his highlights, whilst comparisons to Milne are inevitable because of his smarts, his disposal seems a lot better... Also seems more of a runner to.
I'd say he's maybe more a Schneider than Milne

The hope maybe is that he can push into the midfield for bursts, break lines and deliver a few lace out

Baines said more Schneider

I didn't follow the draft that closely but I don't think Petracca was available at 41.
Yes cause that was the point
Oddly I thought..... wonder if anyone would reply with that then I thought "nah..... only a d!ck would" (I couldn't tell you what number Dick was drafted either... Boom Boom!)

Im going with another crap rumour that for some will justify not taking Petracca.

What does this mean for:

Saad
Petrenko
Minchington
Schneider

Unless Lonie/Minchington become something other than a small forward I think they will be competing for the one spot. Can't see us drafting Saad or Petrenko now and makes you wonder whether we need Schneider. Surely only one of those three will make it to our rookie list. My preference is Petrenko.

He said he wanted to go to the Pies, instant fail.

According to this forum our club leaks like a sieve so this is probably true.

Petracca put a lot of St.Kilda noses out of joint at the two meetings the club has with him.

Very arrogant, and dismissive of the Saints rebuild. Was reported to have told the Saints that he would look for a trade to Collingwood after two years.

If true contrast that with the reaction of McCartin and Goddard when selected for the same AFL team.

this is the story going about.

I find it hard to believe that a player, even one with the obvious audacity of Petracca, would say that he'd seek a trade in 2 years. Unless he was attempting to pull off a "Wingard" and slip to pick 5, which would surely have been near impossible.

Nevertheless, where there's smoke there's fire and if even snippets of these stories are true, he sounds like a player to be avoided.

Am inclined to agree

He was obviously always going to either St.Kilda or Melbourne... I'd say there's a pretty strong argument as to why you'd rather be here

Our AFL department at Champion Data rated this kid very, very highly. 17th best in the entire draft ahead of players such as Cockatoo, Marchbank, Duggan, Lamb, Blakely, Wigg, Miller

If Petracca did say he was going to leave in two years for Collingwood, I'm pretty certain that one Nathan Buckly told the Brisbane Bears the exact same thing! Maybe Petracca is FIGJAM no 2?

Interesting! Any idea what the ratings were based on? He's apparently a good kick, presumably that was part of it?

I think he meant one of the other three.

There is no way Petracca said any of that.
What a load of rubbish, and if people need such bs to help them sleep at night, good luck to them, but there is zero % chance he said he'd seek a trade to the pies after 2 years.
Honestly some of the stuff that's gets thrown around is delusional.
Petracca will be a star. I feel mccartin will the a super star.

P.S. Lonie could be the absolute steal of the draft. Looks super impressive, very happy with the pick.

I suppose Jaxons could confirm this?

Lonie reminds me of Jack Steven in that he was a talented bottom aged player who went cheaper than his worth due to that.

Give him a year or two to catch up..and then watch out.

It certainly is an advantage when one's draft selections are not driven by just focussing on the the next 2 seasons of football.
