What's left in the PSD and rookie draft?

Post: # 1519196Post evertonfc »

We've also got a nice hand to play in the next draft.

Who hasn't been selected who is an option for us in the next few drafts?

We were so, so close to getting Reece McKenzie as the #1 rookie pick. Would have been a bargain.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

From Paige Cardona:
"Very shocked with the outcome of that draft as a whole. A lot of quality overlooked. A lot of interesting selections.."
I'm sure we will hear more from her.

I liked TYLER KEITEL who was overlooked. 194cm forward. Maybe we don't need another tall?

Those (like me) who feel Ahmed Saad has a bit left to offer the Club would be looking forward to the prospect of him being rookied. Our inability to find a goal at any cost was our major blight last season.

I don't get why some of all the VFL guns between 19-22 have not been drafted. Plenty of quality available for the rookie draft. There iS some serious young talent in the VFL.

The rookie draft could prove to be a bonanza this year, Jimmy. Lots of delisted players available, as well as state league players. It seems as though the recruiters have gorged themselves on the eighteen year olds. Spots will be at a premium come the RD. who do you think we'll take?

bampton looks like he could develop well. Keital is a forward who could be developed as a FB.

This is who I would consider from the VFL given our needs. All under 21.
Nick Newman Frankston, half back and elite ball user, late developer, not everyone is ready at 18.
Adam Saad Coburg, small forward, talented aggressive and fast. I was surprised with our small forward selection.
Brody Mihocek Werribee, tall defender, previous all Australian under 18 who is the best intercept mark in the VFL, 194CM, replacement for Dempster.

But will we have any spots to take any? Unless we delist someone we cant use the PSD. If we take Schneider, and the two Adelaide boys we will only have room for one young rookie, but he would be the first one picked.

What about McKernan? Has our choice of two KP types cruelled his chances, or are we stockpiling?

Picking Lonie who is a specialised small forward pocket would look to have eliminated Saad being picked as a rookie. Petranko would look less likely now as well especially as we are mention to rookie Schneider.

Had the same thought...I think he'll struggle now, if we'd gone all mids he was a chance.

Petrenko...does he still get a gig, and who is the other one training with us?

Nee!

Was all for Shaun McKernan but with the amount of project talls we've now got...it suddenly doesn't seem so pressing.

I'd almost rather take the punt on Tyler Keital, who could really put the heat on those forwards on the senior list.

Rookies

Peter Bampton (mid)
Jeremy Taylor, Petrenko, Taylor Grace, Nick Mellington, Ryan Lim, Garret McDonough
Mckernan, Keenan Ramsay, Tyler Keitel
Schneider

Plenty to choose from there.....lots of left footers as well

Someone called Mike Manteit is getting some love for the Rookie draft. Know nothing about him. Brett Anderson and Rahul have mentioned him. Sandy Dragons?

MICHAEL MANTEIT
186cm 81kg Defender Sandringham Dragons
Manteit has forged his early reputation by doing the little things coaches love. While the medium-sized defender reads the ball well and can drop off his man to influence contests, his desire to do the team things _ chasing, tackling and spoiling _ make him a favourite of teammates and the coaching staff. Has played predominantly at half-back where he can use his good kicking skills to set-up attacking forays from defence.

Well done. I found a video of him on the AFL Draft section. Another left-footer! Looks good, but another medium defender?
