Well done saints. Outstanding!

Post: # 1519176Post White Winmar »

I'm happy with our effort. A couple of much needed key position types, an outstanding prospect in McKenzie, who takes some of the sting out of not getting Petracca, and a clever forward in Jack Lonie, who won't have far to go as he's a Seaford local. :D A really good mix. Well done. Pluck a few good ones next year and we're on our way back!

Nothing against Lonie... really wanted Daniel at 41

Only one mid from 4 picks doesn't bode well for our centre clearances.

Next years draft top 5 players are mids so we will get a mid there .With Goddard available must go best available there as wasn't expected to be there. Lonie getting through surprised a little too. I think they have done well

Agree. Most will need a season or two to hit straps.
Even Lonie will take a while as he is bottom age.

Though yes MCartin and Goddard will be good for our long term structure.

I'm afraid that's where we're at p66. There's no quick fix, but the players we've chosen address our needs in the medium to long term.

We needed to draft the key position players first. They take a little more time. You'll see next year that we will draft the gun midfielders.

I'm sorry but great sides bat exceptionally deep in midfield - I'm absolutely not convinced we got this right..... and a skinny, risky prospect at 41??? WTF???

Great picks
2 big country gun KPPs
MCKENZIE!! Bargain will be fyfe!!!
Lonie looks cery smart left footer knows the goals and hits up forwards brilliantly with speed.

Excellent drafting!

Caleb daniel?? Come on too small no where near lonies value.

I would have gone for Petracca. Though McCartin is still ok.

However Goodard at 21 was too good to pass up for any mid still left. So I am happy that he was best available.

Indeed getting Goodard makes up for my disappointment on Petracca.

Buy YES we need a gun mid next year now. Though with FA it will probably be easier to get a good mid, than a good key forward.

Hate to be a wet blanket.

But the jury is well and truly out on the 2011 12 and 13 drafts.

Not sure how anyone can be that confident about the 14.

Possibly SR on the easier to FA gun mid but geez hope we don't end up with 2 lumbering GOP KPPs

McCartin apparently can't play elsewhere but FF with Tom Hawkins comparisons......that ain't much good when Petracca, Viney and Brayshaw (scary this) are constantly ripping it out of the middle for Dees......

I agree with Tef, however me thinks the focus will be on mids from now on

Look at our KPP stocks...

At a glance with Roo retiring we've got Hickey, Longer, Pierce for the ruck
Delaney and Goddard down back
Bruce who we're still figuring out
McCartin, White, Lee up forward

Naturally there's sorting out, developing etc future drafting and trades etc not all of these guys will make it etc

There's a spine there

Did we just give up the next Robert Harvey for the next Tony Lockett or the next Jack Watts ?

If he is as good a Lockett the recruiters will be heroes if he is as bad as Jack Watts they will be villains.
Who would be a recruiter.

Build the spine first. Nothing wrong with that. We can go all mids next year.

We have to get the ball to McCartin.
Next year we take the best midfielder with pick No 1.
Does anyone know his name ?

interesting we were the fourth best clearance team last year. So that is not a issue. Our run and carry is a big worry but can be fixed in the next draft. Long term drafting this.
