Phillip Hughes RIP
Felled by Sean Abbott bouncer. Looked terrible on TV. In a really bad way. probably makes you wonder how important or should I say not important McCartin over Petracca really is.

Thread moved to General Forum where there's little traffic. Really? You could't wait a bit?

Totally agree. We have bickering thread but a well known Australian sportsman in a critical condition gets moved and there is no bloody footy anyway.

Re: Phillip Hughes in critical condition
I hope someone at ABC Grandstand gets the sack over the tweet they sent out stating that cricket NSW couldn't say if Hughes was alive when he was taken by ambulance. Such pathetic journalism, I'd expect that from the commercial press............... no thought for any family members and friends not at the ground to hear such an unconfirmed report.
Notice Grandstand has now taken down their tweet................ too late you imbiciles. Where was your moral compass?

Shocking news. Fox Sports report looked terrible and sent a shiver down my spine.
Fingers crossed.

Is undergoing surgery for bleeding on the brain. Similar injury to what car accident victims suffer. Fingers crossed he recovers.

I heard a report that he was receiving CPR on the field.
Fairly dire situation. Definitely I'd call this a tragedy.

Re: Phillip Hughes in critical condition
Jesus christ this is both scary and sad.
As a former cricketer who could play a bit as an opening batter, this remains a bit of a fear especially getting older with the bowlers getting bigger and stronger.
I hope to god the dude pulls through.
As a positive in this, it shows that kids need to be wearing helmets as soon as possible because by the time bowlers can hit the gym, it gets real.

Re: Phillip Hughes in critical condition
Hughes is in an induced coma and will get further scans this afternoon. Next 24 hours critical according to the latest news @ 9.30am.
I hope to God he pulls through this and returns back to normal.

Re: Phillip Hughes in critical condition
shocking news
helmets cant really come down to the shoulders can they
was only a matter of time before someone got a serious injury..probability says that
lets hope he starts responding with blinking to questions etc and moves his hands and his toes sometime today
if not, this could not be good
best wishes PH

Re: Phillip Hughes in critical condition
It reminds us how dangerous the game can be. I played in the days before helmets and extra protective gear they wear now. I don't know how we didn't get hit more often. Let's face it, the cricket ball is a weapon. Hard and moving at dangerous speeds. I'll never forget when Andy Roberts cleaned up David Hookes in World Series Cricket, shattering his jaw. Even Hookes himself admitted he was never quite the same player again. Fingers crossed for Phil.

Re: Phillip Hughes in critical condition
Fingers crossed he recovers. Always both sickening and tragic when someone gets seriously hurt (or worse) when participating in what is seemingly a harmless sporting contest.
