Lots of rumours flying about re us recruiting Paddy.
Yet to see anything that in any way resembles something vaguely similar to an element of proof.

In the media, the Saint's stance is that they've committed to one but haven't named them publicly yet
My bet is that the AFL prefer we keep the suspense

Re: McCartin
I can't think of one good reason why a team that has 1st pick in the draft would announce to the world that pick before they have to. Why let your opposition get organised? Even if they're 99% sure, keep them guessing as long as possible.
How many of us really know who will be the best pick in the draft? I mean seriously. All any of us do is read the reviews and look at a few highlight reels where everybody looks good.
I recall back in 2010/2011 where Scully was a lock to be #1. Wasn't just the Dees who thought he was the best in the land. Same as when they recruited Watts. I'm convinced it has as much to do with player development and coaching as it does to do with picking the right players.

Even tried playing them backwards. Still nothing!

Re: McCartin
This will be Ball over Judd a decade on.
Not selecting Judd arguably cost us at least one flag in 04, 05, or 09, 10.
Mindboggling that we would take a KP when we just signed a 6 tim AA and 5 time B&F for two years.
I cant believe this.
If it pans out on Thursday we take PM over CP, I dont know if I can continue my enthusiasm for the Saints.
Time after time this club has f***ed up.
People say trust the club, well have been since 66 and still waiting.
Really really pissed at this BS

Re: McCartin
What I would love to see is the so called experts who complain about who we pick to actually put in print who they would have taken with the selection on draft night.
I am quite comfortable whichever way we go, twelve months ago I would have been gutted if we had pick one and did not go McCartin now I am leaning slightly towards Petracca.
Regardless what anyone on here thinks, all of the experts are saying that the two are hard to split so why the concern.
I will be honest and say that last year I have go e Lewis Taylor and Billy Hartung ahead of Blake Acres, no way I would do that now.

What sort of testing hasn't been the expectation?
If he is the best player, I think that outweighs 'some of the testing'

.
1/ Well many of us believe that we need a very good midfielder a lot more than a very good key forward. So if you are line ball, I would go with the mid.
2/ I tend to also believe that a good young mid is more likely to make it than a good young forward. so again if lineball, I would go with the mid.
From what I know, plus my two points above, I personally would go with Petracca.

Re: McCartin
I would seriously doubt we are unsure of who we are taking at this late stage.
Smoke and mirrors I say.
I'm comfortable the club has done due dilligence and will be happy with either Petracca or MCartin.
I can't see the difference in looking for a KPF free agent in a couple of years if we take Petracca or mid free agent if we take McCartin.
Having said that my money is on Petracca.
