I bet the player taken at pick 20, will be the player we wanted, which will piss me off as bombers were stripped of first 2 rounds of draft picks, but then got this end of first rd returned to them.
Anyway, I will watch with interest the fortunes of this player. Hope he is a dud and one we didn't rate as highly as 21 and 22.

Im a bit like others, got my hopes on Petracca now, if it aint him, gonna take a while to get my head around it.
That said, will be interesting to see McCartin's career.

I think we will get two handy players in 21 & 22, but will just miss on some players that we would have wanted a lot more.

Dave, given that the club has said that MCCartin is in the mix I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised or frightened. Nor would most posters here be surprised to learn that the top journos have a closer relationship with club recruiting staff than most members so I suppose I could say that a careful reading of Emma Quayle's article in this morning's Age should give posters on this forum cause to doubt their near universal declaration that Petracca will be number one, but no my 'source' is from the junior footy ranks.

Yes, although I initially I thought it was just to keep us guessing so its a good PR opportunity when the pick #1 is unveiled....but now we seem to be softening up the idea of taking McCartin.

I can guarantee a generalised gnashing of teeth if this happens and an agonizing subsequent period where Melbourne take Petracca and Brayshaw with the next two picks declaring they couldn't believe he was available....once in a generation player....

But the other way to look at it is - when we will get another number 1 pick? Who knows. Could be years or decades away.
You dont get a chance at a key fwd very often. Unless you throw mega $$ at them they are hard to get.

Sadly I think our chances of getting Cameron look slim now Boyd has left. Patton's price has softened meaning GWS will throw mega coin at Cameron now.

I read a spread on the Herald Sun today based on our research... it's hardly conclusive or definitive... I dunno, just gave me that impression too.

Key fwds you need a certain gun if u want to use pick 1 on them.
He doesnt seem a certainty to me.
