On second thoughts, maybe we don't want Bomber to coach the Dogs. They may end up being pretty good if you know what I mean.

Re: Luke Beveridge
For noting: Age reported this morning that Luke "say that again" Darcy was talking up Bomber T.
Probably means sweet f.a but if Bomber T is interested and available one could think that he would be their man. They might decide not to go down the untried coaching path again so soon. As promising as Bevo is, he is obviously still unproven and would still be somewhat of a risk.
The Bulldogs appear to be really going for it and making some "big statements" lately. This could be another "defining moment" for them....maybe...

Call it selfish but I'm disappointed we're losing him.
That's the way it goes though.

I dont want anything good to happen to the dogs. I was hoping they appointed Neil Craig.
This definitely hurts us. I'm not happy at all. I was very bullish about him at the Saints. Where do we go from here?

We should seek compo..and Darcy should keep his gob shut when he's on the selection panel...apart from embarrassing me and making me look like a right knob with my stupid theory, it's the height of unprofessionalism...

Don't worry Con, the Bulldogs are a basket case and the players run the show over there.Con Gorozidis wrote:Not selfish at all. Its bloody war.howlinwolf wrote:Call it selfish but I'm disappointed we're losing him.

The best they can hope for is for Beveridge to steer them to multiple Preliminary Finals which is their peak standard.

Would he be the first ever LUKE to be a senior coach? Can't think of another off the top of my head.

Re: Luke Beveridge
Great media release from the Club - grace while in defeat...
"The following is a statement from St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis:
The St Kilda football club congratulates Luke Beveridge on his appointment as coach of the Western Bulldogs.
When we appointed Luke to the new role of Director of Coaching at the Saints early this year we did so in the
knowledge that he possessed all of the credentials and character required to become a senior coach – albeit
we had hoped this would occur following his contribution to our coaching program first.
Luke was due to begin with the Saints last Monday but this was obviously pushed back due to the interview
process he was participating in with our consent.
We accept that this is his first opportunity to be a senior AFL coach and, while the timing is not ideal for us, we
have been aware for a number of weeks that he was being considered for this position and have been planning accordingly.
The Saints will not be seeking compensation from the Bulldogs.
Our main recruitment focus in the football department right now is on securing a new General Manager Football Performance
and we look forward to making an announcement on that role soon."

Yep, I was wrong. But all I could relate was what he said to a colleague of mine when his name was first mentioned.
I am very happy to be a part of the Saints future.
I have not made any contact with the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs have made zero contact with either myself or my manager.
I'm looking forward to going overseas on holidays for a month.
But yep you're right I was wrong !!!
P.S. McKernan is absolutely a standout in pre season at the moment

No Offence...but what person who is currently employed by a different club, who is asked about a Head Coaching Role does not pretty much say that type of thing every time.tony74 wrote:Yep, I was wrong. But all I could relate was what he said to a colleague of mine when his name was first mentioned.

Yes, he didn't actually begin his role with us but surely it's put us back in regards to employing a new 'Director of Coaching'.. Why are we not seeking compensation like other teams? Is this another example of us giving in again.. What would Collingwood do?

Luke was a fantastic clubman, and his father was as well for many years. He's got a great opportunity and he wasn't going to coach us. Wish him well and we'll move on. We should've sued Fremantle though.

Re: Luke Beveridge
Interesting news about McKernan. What is it that is standing out? Fitness, skills? What sort of player could he become, a more physical Stanley?tony74 wrote:Yep, I was wrong. But all I could relate was what he said to a colleague of mine when his name was first mentioned.

I'm pretty gutted about losing Beveridge tbh, I'm not sure its been discussed but was getting Luke to our club part of the reason Pelch's job became so obsolete? Or were both roles never entwined?
I want quality blokes at our club and Luke seemed to fit the bill then some. I hope we have someone in mind for his role, because it's getting a bit late once again thanks for the Dogs late decision. Not wanting to be negative, but since trade period we've lost Pelch and now Luke, I'm a little concerned because this season was shaping to be one of the first for a while where we didn't have any disruptions to our staff or players.
