Re: Milera?
Definately won't be Port!
Article in todays Advertiser.
Port list manager Jason Cripps said "Certainly St Kilda have asked whether we have any interest in Terry but we don't."
Don't think it gets more emphatic than that!

Re: Milera?
If they was a possible/outside chance they would instead like Tezza, surely they would talk it down till he's delisted then rookie or use a very late pick.

Re: Milera?
I personally think we should keep him, if he wants to stay. I think that is certainly a better option than drafting Saad. Milera did not get many games this year, but in the games he played he showed signs that he had worked on his hardness at the footy. I think he is still potentially a very handy and dangerous small forward.

Re: Milera?
South Australian half forward Terry Milera wasn't traded despite asking the club to fulfil his wish to return to his home state for personal reasons.
The Saints are yet to officially delist him but believe it is unlikely he will see out the final year of his contract in Victoria.
They will talk about his future next week when the dust has settled on the trade period, which finished on Thursday at 2pm.
"We had conversations with both Adelaide and Port Adelaide about Terry and his desire to return home," head of football Chris Pelchen told AFL.com.au.
"We hadn't given any commitment to Terry about a trade except that we would explore it.
"He's indicated to the club he has a genuine desire to be back in Adelaide and he's home at the moment without any guarantee he will return – that would be a decision for him to make."

to my understanding and from events late in the season I would think it is extremely extremely extremely unlikely he would appear for pre - season training.

Nothing to do with his aboriginality, all to do with his family.saintspremiers wrote:Yet another aboriginal player lost to the AFL.

And he hasn't really been lost to the AFL, he was a borderline player anyway, he isn't Rioli or Goodes.
Probably saw the writing on the wall. The Adelaide clubs certainly didn't see any value in him.

Re: Milera?
He a regular guy going home for family reasons. Like Darren Jolly left Sydney apparently. Nothing to do with him being aboriginal. I'm sick of people assuming it's some how a cultural trait. I doubt his life was very easy living along way from home with a sick wife and kids to look after and not getting much of an extended run in the seniors. I can see the appeal of going home and being a big fish in the SANFL and getting on with life with the family around. More an issue that SA guys all want to go home. Probably because Adelaide is still cheaper to live and the life style is better. Maybe the Vic clubs need some COLA.saintspremiers wrote:Yet another aboriginal player lost to the AFL.

Urban aboriginals can't be compared to guys who grow up in the remote communities around the country.

Re: Milera?
Aboriginal players are 2% of the population and about 5-7% of AFL lists - how can it be a 'problem'? Stats show they are batting above average.
I will agree that the full blown bush guys like Jurrah and Barry have completely separate challenges.
Some of the urban blokes have probably never set foot in the bush in their life.
Dont dozens of white guyss 'go home' every year? (Beams, Boyd etc). Arent we always going on about the 'go home' factor on this website? Then when an indig bloke does it its because hes indig

Re: Milera?
Unfortunately things didn't quite work out for him at St Kilda the way he would have liked, which no doubt contributed to him becoming homesick for his family back in SA etc.
Good luck to him and his wife, glad to hear she's on the mend now that she's back home.
Not sure he'll get another opportunity like he did with the Saints, but good luck to him anyway if he does.

Re: Milera?
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-14/r ... l-imminentMeanwhile, former Saint Terry Milera has signed a two-year deal to play for SANFL club Glenelg.
The 26-year-old decided to leave the Saints with a year to run on his contract to return home to South Australia.
His wife has reportedly battled health problems this year and the pair wanted to be closer to family.
A trade couldn't be reached with either of AFL club in South Australia, so Milera will now return to the SANFL where he began his career at Port Adelaide.
He will attempt to resurrect his AFL career as a mature-aged recruit with either Adelaide or Port through strong form with Glenelg.
