Petrenko

According to Herald Sun, Jared Patrenko has been invited to train with us. I think this guy would be a good get as I always liked his aggression and smarts around goals.

Surely they won't have both him and Saad on the rookie list (together with Schneider).

Haven't seen much of him personally. Is he better than Saad?

He just never had the aerobic fitness to give himself enough opportunites. If he can get that right and anew club might be the stimulous then he would be a good pick up! Haven't we invited Taylor Hunt down as well if he doesnt get picked up in the draft?

Looks like the Saints are definitely keen on adding more mature agers as rookies. When you think about the number of kids we will have running around its a smart ploy to surround them with some senior bodies!

For me Petrenko and Saad are very very similar.

I just cannot fathom how Schneider even gets into any discussion at all on anything. He was a terrific part of our past. He is not part of our future. Not even short term future.

Worth a look for a rookie pick.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Saad in a heart beat!
Just look at the comparison. Ahmed is a much more efficient small forward!

Ahmed Saad
DOB - 9/10/89, 175cm 75kg.
29 games, 45 goals. 8.97 disp per game, 3.1 tackles, 1.55 goals, 0.9 BH

Jared Petrenko
DOB - 22/12/89, 179cm 82kg.
76 games, 50 goals. 11.71 disp per game, 3.74 tackles, 0.66 goals, 0.54 BH

Not sure its a heart beat. Petrenko averaged 5 tackles per game in 2014.
Same age.
I see them as very similar.
Just dont know. Are we talking rookie or real list?

It's a heart beat in my opinion. Saad's smarter around goal & really not that far behind in tackles!

Petrenko started in defence and has played some footy through the middle as well so if your talking goals per game the comparison with Saad is unfair.

Just dunno.
Saad was not good in 2013. Lets not romanticise. I think he was dropped. Not saying Petrenko is great either.
But keep our pants on over Saad imho.
No way in hell we will use pick 41 on either of these guys.
So we are only talking rookies list here for both.

Con, I'm not romanticising, I watch a lot of SANFL footy & I just don't rate Petrenko as an AFL player!
I think Saad is a much smarter player.
Just my opinion, that's all!

Neither player worth much.Saad plays well inside 50 mtr arc with no other strengths where as Petrenko has pushed up the ground and been reasonable. Out of the two i would prefer Petrenko but we must be desperate if we are considering either to boost our lists. We need to understand that Saad will never be Milney so thats where the kids have to develop.

Sorry I wasn't trying to be a contrarian. I definitely know very little about Petrenko (apart from that game he gave us a touch up) so I certainly take your word for it. Just saying Saady was fairly disappointing in 2013. Maybe he had injuries. I'm not sure. But the jury is out on Saady imho. I do hope he gets another opportunity in the AFL though. But it should come down to how the draft cards fall whether its us or elsewhere. We wont be using pick 41 on either of these guys.

Too bad he isn't too smart around banned substances.

Saad looks like he will be picked up in the ND

We wouldn't want to be spending pick 41 on rejects! this draft goes a bit deeper this year IMO

So hopefully we pick up a Touk Miller with 41 etc

I'm hoping for Oscar Mcdonald in a perfect world @ 41, so we don't have to spend 21/22 on him.

What do you mean my mob?

Hope you aren't confusing Bunk_Moreland, legendary Saints supporter and epic sledger of Jack Watts with bf's Bunk Moreland, pathetic Essendon drug policy apologist.

If you are please don't. It is not nice to call anyone an Essendon support, even an Essendon supporter :D

Saad is not a shoe in to come back to Stkilda.

Carlton are also interested in him.

I get the feeling this guy is a bit Milnesque, before he became a club legend. Seems like there's a bit of x-factor there. Maybe wiser after being tipped out of a club. I'd go for it, personally, different sort of character to Saad, who I'd also go for.

Who would make way though? Dunno but start with reneging on Schneider rookie arrangement. Milera is gone, Eli is less small forward than fwd-mid, isn't he? Or do people see him evolving into a pure crumbing fwd? A clever crumber would be nice to have
