He was not head of list management - that (was and partly still is) Ameet Bains.
He was not head of recruiting - that's Tony Elshaug.
He was not director of coaching - that's Luke Beveridge.
He was not head of development - that's Simon McPhee.
We still have stability and great people across all those key roles.
Pelchen had a significant role in list strategy in conjunction with Bains, but Bains is across the detail. Bains will retain some list management responsibilities when he takes on more of a commercial role.
We have promoted Bains because of his ability, and at least two other AFL clubs were interested in poaching him. Ameet is rated extremely highly within the industry. He's also very well liked at the club. Would not surprise me if he gets offered a CEO gig in the next two years.

For the first time in a long time, we have developed an outstanding performer from within.
You are correct, he will have Finnis in his sights now.

Im not trying to be silly here but can someone please tell me exactly what and how Mr Pelchen helped our club to be a better club. We never won a flag while he was here with our club . Our list hasnt really become a powerhouse has it?. Just wondering what he actually did.

Sucked $$ and did his best to predict how good footballers are and what the team needs. What you or I or 1000 other people could do really. No big loss.

I guess if you take that view then everyone ever associated with the club bar about forty people are a complete waste of space.

Well at this stage all we know for sure is that our TPP is in working order.
Time will tell for the rest, but if our young draft picks work out then he can take a share of the credit for trading for draft picks, moving on older players and firmly articulating the goals of the club (cf. a team like Carlton who doesn't know if it's a flag threat or in rebuild mode).

Sounds about right. That goes for all clubs. Really think they need 5 assistant coaches? Nup.

Big call. Footy knowledge and leadership capacity are things I'll wait on. Seems a good accountant/lawyer-type.
Happy for him to have a numbers-based and legal role. I think that's where he can shine, at least for now.
