Re: GWS now have 4, 6, 7 to trade for pick 1
Interesting comment. How does their balance look different to St. Kilda's? I don't see a huge difference given that we have casted out 2 players in the last 2 years as trades who are in the growing numbers of 23-25 year olds. The OtherThommo wrote:Con Gorozidis wrote:FQF wrote:Can I just ask, if this is such a good trade for us, then why would GWS do it?
Are they stupid?
Is Petracca worth more to them than to us?
Massively unbalanced list, what 3 years in?
They don't need more numbers of potential kids - they need quality and blokes who are thereabouts already.
Pole position now, us.
Patience is its own reward (hopefully).
When I said, a coupla days back, that the Dogs couldn't possibly trade Griffin for low picks, after what Gordon said, and that they, at least, had to make the deal look different, this is ballpark what I'd hoped would happen. Twas a plan and it was cunning.
If people don't want to learn from the Dorks approach after they lost Franklin, then so be it. The game ain't about a few superstars now, it's about numbers and overall quality.
Do the deal, even if it takes some steak knives to go with 1 to get it done.
Please, do the deal.
High anticipation going into the last day.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Looks like GWS are still negotiating with the Dees re Frost. Once that deals done hopefully we see some moves.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Yep and that is probably the sole reason why Melbourne wont enter into a deal for 2 for 3 later picks with GWS.Sobraz wrote:Thats on the assumption Petracca is gone at 1.Bunk_Moreland wrote:Gary Lyon reckons Brayshaw is a lock for Melb @2. If Petracca and Brayshaw are available, Melb pick Pet first, no question.

If that's the case, I doubt if anything will get done for us. There's only an hour and 15 minutes left...Old Mate wrote:Looks like GWS are still negotiating with the Dees re Frost. Once that deals done hopefully we see some moves.

If Doggies and the Dees are more attractive clubs, then we have some PR worries.

Doesn't help that our superstar captain isn't in the country to sell the club to prospective players.tweedaletomanning wrote:Geez, players aren't exactly clambering to get to us are theyOld Mate wrote:Nominated the Deestweedaletomanning wrote:Hey!, why are WE not negotiating re Frost?Old Mate wrote:Looks like GWS are still negotiating with the Dees re Frost. No worries. I think he likes to sneak fwd and escape an opponent using his good endurance running so maybe thats why he likes how Roo plays. But he doesn't do much in the air like a kpp. He plays short.Saints94 wrote:I have never seen him play midfield Con my mistake, just going off on how he models his game on our captain, hence the CHF comment.Con Gorozidis wrote:Adam is a big bodied mid in the Lenny mould (not as good but similar style of player) - I dont think he is in any way a KPP.Saints94 wrote:+1. Tomlinson has the scope to be our next CHF imo.BringBackMadDog wrote:Tomlinsons stats for last season are pretty impressive, he gets a lot of the footy for a tall footy, averaged over 16 disposals and 6 marks in 19 games. In 45 games over 2 seasons he has got more than 20 disposals in 10 games. They are Riewoldt like numbers.
He's only 21 193cm and 88kgs
I would take 6 and 7 plus him and then just go for mids in the draft.
Hes got excellent endurance.

Touché- but the fact remains that we're the wooden spooners who everyone is predicting to go back to back. Combine that with the fact that our youngsters haven't quite come along yet (compared to the likes of Bontempelli), Riewoldt is our biggest bargaining chip. He's an admired and respected champion of the game- him sitting in on interviews could help our cause. I'm not saying we'd get everyone but it certainly wouldn't hurt the St Kilda Footy Club's cause.busso mick wrote:Lucky that the Bulldogs superstar captain is in the country .... wait hang on4ever_saint wrote:Doesn't help that our superstar captain isn't in the country to sell the club to prospective players.tweedaletomanning wrote:Geez, players aren't exactly clambering to get to us are theyOld Mate wrote:Nominated the Deestweedaletomanning wrote:Hey!, why are WE not negotiating re Frost?Old Mate wrote:Looks like GWS are still negotiating with the Dees re Frost. Re: GWS now have 4, 6, 7 to trade for pick 1
Brisbane have improved their list considerably through trading this year.
GWS have improved their list with Griffen - despite losing 3 first round draft picks, still have another 21 first rounders on their roster, and they will improve again next year as their picks continue to mature
WB have improved their list mix by adding the power forward they desperately need
Melb took steps to remedy their list last year, and industry perception will be they will improve once Hogan gets fit and Roos plan has had another preseason to take hold.
Saints - most of their best players in decline. Very few established players in the 22-25 age range. Most potential A-graders are still under 21 and a few years away from delivering on their potential.
Prospects for rising up the ladder in 2015 = low
Prospects for another season of beltings in 2015 = high
Cant blame decent players for not wanting to nominate St Kilda.
