Re: Quick poll: How do you feel about the Rhys trade?
I rated Rhys, he's a really good guy who was developing nicely. Any big guy we get in is going to take a similar amount of time to develop and he further reduces the age bracket we are seriously lacking in. Oh well a friend told me when we got Pelchen that he lacked any kind of sentimentality on his path for list reconstruction. Lets hope like hell one of Pierce, Holmes, Longer and Hickey come good....very very good. We did have too many rucks though.

Not a bad player but very happy with pick 21 as compensation..

Agreed - rated by two clubs, the one that drafted him and the one that just traded for him.
I think it is more interesting that the MacEvoy trade.

Relaxed and comfortable.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
Re: Quick poll: How do you feel about the Rhys trade?
sick to my stomach that the club could be so stupid...but hey they have form.....and i suspected that rhys would be up for trade all along....well ever since i had a little birdie whisper in my ear mid season about how the club viewed him as too timid.....

Good luck for the future Rhys! Time for everyone to move on.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

I haven't rated him.

Re: Quick poll: How do you feel about the Rhys trade?
look i think Rhys was a great guy always friendly and very polite but he is too gentle ... it is like he didnt believe he was the size he was really lacking in the agro and arrogance that you need to be a powerful player
pick 21 is good for him - he will prob kick more goals for geelong and look like a revelation with the ball coming to him off the boot of selwood Bartel etc but thats not the point its not how good he becomes over there its how good would he have become with us and i would say we would have got exactly what we have seen from rhys over the last 6 years for the next 6 years had he stayed so while he may go on to better things with geelong i doubt he would have done anything with us
not happy but content with the trade ... good work team

Pick 21 is adequate compensation for Stanley IMO. Makes me think twice when I see Port offering pick 17 for Paddy Ryder!
So take it & run!

Re: Quick poll: How do you feel about the Rhys trade?
I rate Rhys as a nice young man, one who has shown loyalty to the club. Sadly, Like many others, I find his lack of aggression, and second efforts for too many games over his time with us, to be adequate reason to trade him. I have nothing against the guy, and wish him well. As for this trade having any bearing on whether or not I'll renew my membership? I'll renew regardless of who we trade or recruit. I'm a member of the CLUB, and that will always be bigger than any individual.

He was never going to win us a premiership,
He may have got us into the final 8.
I want a premiership, I am not interested in "having a good season".

Re: Quick poll: How do you feel about the Rhys trade?
im a sad panda
but ill get over it come draft time
its just another player in a long list of players that has moved on from our club
think we were just seeing potential
wouldve loved to give him that last year on his contract and if he shined then great
but if he didnt, his trade worth wouldve prob dropped
look its prob the right move by the club with the plan they have moving forward for the next 5 years
still a bit pissed about it
but mehh
shite happens

No way I would trade John Howard for both of Rudd and Gillard.evertonfc wrote:Relaxed and comfortable.
I certainly would trade Abbott and Hockey to get Howard and Costello.

Stanley cost us pick No 47 in the 2008 draft.
We now get pick 21 in the 2014 draft.
Let's not waste it on a dud.

Footy is a ruthless business and Saints need to make hard nosed decisions - hope they are the right ones and we don't end up as a feeder club for the top teams

Re: Quick poll: How do you feel about the Rhys trade?
I believed he could have been anything, and with what Geelong can offer may fulfil his potential.
Sad to lose him, but have faith in the recruiters who are in a better position than me to make decisions like this.
Just remember the deal that really got Hawthorn going was the trade of Trent Croad and we have to be like that.
Who knows, we might be able to get him back in a few years when he is established and we are in a position to make a run at the prize.

Re: Quick poll: How do you feel about the Rhys trade?
I'm very disappointed to lose him.
A gamble on Stanley really coming good is significantly less of a gamble than on pick 21 coming good.
I think 21 is a poor return.
Except if it's now part of a 1+21 for 4,6+7 deal!!
I'd be elated at that. I'd stop feeling sorry for Rhys and sorry for myself, quick smart.
It would all be worth it.
But if tomorrow it doesn't help net us the three high picks, then I'll be down in the dumps again.
It's a difficult time of the year.

bloody oath it will.....has affected my decisiopn....at the moment ..i won't be forking out for the 5 or 6 social club memberships i pay for each year......or the hundreds of dollars i give the club for their scratchies and raffle tickets......i may or may not calm down.....but to say that i'm pissed with the club would be an understatement..
....we do we...as opposed to the other 17 clubs...regularly sell off our only good players.......no other supporters have to regularly wave farewell to players WHO HAVE NO WISH TO LEAVE THE CLUB.... we have been doing it from before i was born....but not with the frequency that happens under bird brain's watch......
