So McCartin the new number 1
Was thinking with the moving on of Stanley are we going to target McCartin being the best forward option in most opinions or is getting Membrey covering Stanley up forward and we stick with Petracca..?
Throws a few things in the mix now ..?

Re: So McCartin the new number 1
we might look for a forward innext years draft and just run one short for the year ... we did that with a tall defender when we didnt get Mitch Brown

Still think No. 1 is on the table - could still get McCartin at 4 (more likely to get Wright) and a mid with 7.
The issue now is, if Roo goes down, there's nothing left.

One gets the feeling that one Spencer White might have a slightly higher profile next year.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Yep that's the way I'm thinking , hope we go Petracca and big Spence turns promise into something more legit ..bigred wrote:One gets the feeling that one Spencer White might have a slightly higher profile next year.

I think Pelchen is prepared to back in Hickey, Lee & White for the next two years.
We will also try and land a big fish fwd in 2016.
imho.

I'm not sure I'd call us short of a tall forwards. We have White and Lee ready to step in next year and might even see Pierce as a rucking forward. Bruce is more a forward option than a back according to Richo.

Re: So McCartin the new number 1
MCCartin is no replacement for Stanley. He is an undersized leading Full Forward.
I would not have thought he was Pelchin style player at all seeing as how Pelchin seems to like flexible players who can play a number of different roles and McCartin is defiantely a single position player.
To me getting rid of Rhys points more towards trying to trade Pick one and then trying to secure Wright with pick 4.

Our improvement could be limited this year, so with that in mind perhaps next season is a test of the new forward structure. If it looks bleak we can make a play for Boyd, we would just have to have a better offer than the dogs. The news is he is returning to Melbourne regardless of this season so why not

Agree. If Gilbo Delaney Fisher and Dempster can stay on the field then Bruce can go forward.
Throw in Hickey, Lee and White.

That was this years issue as well. Nobody can replace Roo.St Chris wrote:Still think No. 1 is on the table - could still get McCartin at 4 (more likely to get Wright) and a mid with 7.

You don't rebuild an entire list in one year. We are doing it a year at a time. We got some good kids last year and we'll get some more this year.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

Re: So McCartin the new number 1
I would have preferred if we kept Stanley - but I don't think we've lost anything, goal-wise.
Petracca and Membrey could kick more goals next year than Stanley or McCartin for that matter - who knows?
We need to develop many avenues to goal - more from midfielders and mid-sized players - not just rely on a tall forward.

Looks like they have big expectations of Lewis Pierce. He'll take over from Stanley.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Why aren't more people talking about Tom Lee? I think he's been really solid for such a young bloke. After a few years in the gym he could become great.

We may still beat Essendon if they default due to lack of players - a list with about 20 suspended players.St Chris wrote:Still think No. 1 is on the table - could still get McCartin at 4 (more likely to get Wright) and a mid with 7.

Last time I looked at the rules, the suspension of a senior player did NOT entitle a club to upgrade a guy off their rookie list.

Re: So McCartin the new number 1
Ah so what, we struggle with tall forwards in 2015.
We "win" another wooden spoon.
We get our just deserts - first pick in the main draft, the preseason draft and the rookie draft again.

The 2015 grand final was won with desperation, a feature I have never seen from Stanley.
If Geelong can teach him desperation they will receive a just reward.

Hahaha no. I do rate him though. Doesn't anyone else? Very successful out west and averaged more than a goal a game as a very young man in 2013.saintspremiers wrote:Are you his brother?Armagizmo wrote:Why aren't more people talking about Tom Lee? How tall does Stanley really play? At 200cm he doesn't take a heap of marks against opponents 5 -7cm shorter

If you searched this forum for Tom Lee's name your computer would explode. Let's just say he is a somewhat divisive topic.
But most of us are still hopeful that his fortunes will reverse.
