saints ruck roundabouts
So, if the stanley trade goes through, our ruck trading over the past 3 years will read:
OUT: McEvoy, Stanley, 13, 24, 25,36,55
IN: Hickey, Longer, 18, 19, 21,25,46, steak knives*
*aka Savage
Is there method in this madness?
Are we better off?
Did we make upgrades to our ruck division?
OUT: McEvoy, Stanley, 13, 24, 25,36,55
IN: Hickey, Longer, 18, 19, 21,25,46, steak knives*

Re: saints ruck roundabouts
Well we don't really have a second ruck/forward option if Stanley goes and if there still is 3 on the interchange bench then there is no room for a second ruck.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Right now it looks pretty even. Looks like a lot of trades to be in the same position. Like going round in circles....I guess the Pelch needs to look 'busy' to justify his job... Hopefully Hickey ends up like SImon Madden
Re: saints ruck roundabouts
Do you really need one?
Hawthorns grand final saw Jordan Lewis with 8 hitouts and hodge 3. Both as 3rd man up.
I think Big Mac had 14 and hale 11 or 12.
Where pyke had 32.
Maybe our game plan for future sees 2 genuine rucks and both 50 per cent of game time with 3rd man up?

1. MceVoy for 18 (Dunstan), Savage = massive win... a poor ruckmen for 2 good young mids.
2. 24, 59 for 19 = win, upgraded 2nd round for a 1st round pick
3. 13, 37, 57 for Hickey, 26, 47 = win, we spent pick 13 + (21 spot upgrade) = 2nd round pick on Hickey.
4. 24, 41 for longer, 48 = win, got Longer (former 1st round pick) for a 2nd round pick.
5. proposed stanley for 21 = win, trade out someone who's had 5 years to prove himself and still only has the 'talent' (originally pick 47 from 2008 draft)
So, 5 wins out of 5. and you're still not happy?

Maybe that shows you need them. Pyke rucked on his own where as the Hawks went with him with 2 guys. Pyke won the hitouts but the other 2 got around the ground better because they weren't as stuffed. Tippet filled in a little but no where near the time to give Pyke a rest. The day third man up works in centre bounces is the day I stop watching footy. By the way where do your ruckman rest when not rucking?

Re point 5, you have NFI if pick 21 will deliver the goods for us at this stage, so it's a TBA.LondonSaint wrote:Here are the 4 tradesSuperDuper wrote:So, if the stanley trade goes through, our ruck trading over the past 3 years will read:
