As odd as it may sound, if we are getting O'Shea, that may make Stanley dispensable. It would allow Bruce to play forward, where he showed more in a couple of quarters than Stanley did in a couple of seasons. With White and Lee in the seconds and expected to show something this year, I think Stanley is tradeable on exposed form. I agree his "potential" is tantalising, but eventually you have to "s*** or get off the pot" as the crude old saying goes.Linton Lodger wrote:Sheer madness if we do it. Stanley has just finally emerged! The only reason you would do it, was if you knew you were getting someone like Boyd or Cameron from GWS. Otherwise its madness, a trade we may rue in the future.
At what point do you cut your losses and admit that the flashes of brilliance are as much as you will ever get from the player? Stanley has had 5 or 6 years, and whilst his ability to go into the ruck and play key forward is valuable, I think that in the medium to longer term we will be able to cover that adequately. Short term we are going to struggle anyway, and Rhys is not going to be the difference to whetheh we suck next year or not.
