Steven & pick 1 for picks 2 & 3
Cannot see that as true....that would have us with our pants down and bent over.
Absolutely shocking deal for the Saints.
It also does not multiple the picks.
Its seems like a very fair deal to me. I wouldn't do it but it basically rates Steven as about a top 4 or 5 pick which seems pretty fair I would have thought.
But its not fair to the Saints
We shouldn't and wont do it but what pick number do you think Steven is worth?
Steven would have to agree to it and I don't think he'd be that stupid.
You can't trade your best players for an unknown quantity. It defies logic so he's worth more than pick 1.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Reckons will be the worst trade and would wreck the Saints midfield going forward
Occasionally he does talk sense.
Would be the biggest loss we've had in year, and thats taking into account BJ, Dal and McEvoy..
More important than any of those players going into our next generation.
I agree!
Despite the pain and controvsery, I think we have done very well out of those big name player trade-outs from 2012 and 2013.
That said, in the name of being able to send 'the long term loyalty message' to our current group of developing young guns... enough is enough! No more trading out of any of our top line players, unless the player himself wants out.
As for the above trade... Petracca and Steven... if I was a Dreamons person, I'd happily thrown in a few later draft pick trade-ups as a sweatener if needed, to get a deal like that done.
It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?

Ok. So hoopla aside. Only one trade was completed today?
Christensen for pick 21. Good deal for the Lions. Do they even need Beams? They have a good young midfield. Are they better off going for a Durdin ?

You can never have enough good mids. As someone just said it can make an average forward or backline look good. You need between 12 and 14 mids in every game plus depth so you probably need 20 to 25 in your club.
Along with Beams, and the return of Rich and development of Aish, Taylor and a few others, they are amassing a nice little midfield at Brissy and I wouldnt be surprised to see them push for the 8 next year. Will begin to become very difficult to beat at home, and thats half the battle won with the interstate sides.

Rockliff Hanley and Redden all guns. Add in Aish Taylor Rich Beams and Christensen and gee whizz they have a real future in the next 3 years.
So according to the Age the trades for tomorrow am will be:
Reporting that the Trengrove deal busted, like Jack's foot. Not sure what this does to the Dee'd trade/draft strategy.
10:01am- Terrible news for Melbourne's Jack Trengove who has reaggravated the navicular injury in his left foot.
The news has also ruined any chances of him being involved in a possible trade with either Richmond or Adelaide who were both reportedly been interested in the former Demons co-captain.
The Tigers and Crows will not recruit him now and Trengove will remain at the Demons.
SEN were just saying the enquiries about Rhys Stanley at the start of the trade period have grown with Geelong very interested. I hope not. Rhys is no star but out of all our ruckmen he's the only one that can hold his own in a key position. Not sure they'd offer their first pick, though, which is probably what we'd want given our quest for top twenty picks.
This is just hypothetical, & I hope we keep Rhys, but if this trade was to happen & we were to trade pick 1 for, let's say, 4 & 6 or 7, that would leave us with 4, 7, 21 & 22.
We would then have to draft Peter Wright with 4 wouldn't we?
I really do not want to trade Ryhs Stanley. Most contested marks this year. Holds his own in the ruck. Only 23 years old. You could take 1 year off his development due to that year in defence.
Once we start to win games I believe Rhys will be a better version of David Hale.
Pick 21 for him. No thanks

I posted something similar in another thread. It also gives us the option of trading 21 or 22 for an established 22 or 23 year old and still have three picks in the top 22. Of course there's a huge assumption that we'll get two top ten picks for pick one.
