Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this????
How did we miss this opportunity???
We bent over backwards to get him (thru Pick 1) last year, how could we not be on the pulse??

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
This is not f****** okay. We had the pick to do the deal, we have a stable club and coach and yet the farce that is WB convinced Boyd to play for them?
Disgraceful missed opportunity. Absolutely sick.

Don't know, but this would put Griffin for Boyd on the table, straight swap.
Would also put GWS back in the frame for pick 4 & 7 and a sweetener to us for pick 1. If the Jaksch deal is done I would consider 4, 7 & Frost for pick 1.

WB asking for straight swap. GWS say they won't trade Boyd under any circumstances.
Either way, WB is the main event and we are the preshow bullsh!t.

Yeah the WB had no idea at all about Griffen wanting to go to GWS before last Thursday.

Don't mind this - Boyd hasn't yet proved himself - certainly, he's no Cameron, and he could be a Koschitzke.
We are not yet ready to be making big plays for these guys. 2016/2017 we can make a Buddy Franklin-type offer to the best forward in the comp. The Dogs are 2 years closer than we are with their list, so they are in the frame now.
More importantly, any trade involving Boyd would leave GWS with all their picks available, and even more likely to try and obtain pick #1.
So it's to our advantage.
Anyhow, I can't see GWS releasing Boyd from his contract, so I don't think anything will come from this.

Because maybe he didn't want to come to St Kilda.St Chris wrote:How did we miss this opportunity???

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
We should have been at the front of the queue for Boyd. We should have been communicating with his management for months.
If the Dogs can trade Griffen for Boyd, it's the deal of the decade for them.
Good as Petracca will be, elite big men are virtually impossible to find. I'd be offering Boyd a five-year deal on big money and see what happens.
We shouldn't be out of this.

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
You think he has some special connection to WB? You think WB have a more attractive product to sell without a coach, disgruntled players and at the same end of the ladder as us? You think WB have a better winning culture?magnifisaint wrote:Because maybe he didn't want to come to St Kilda.St Chris wrote:How did we miss this opportunity???

Correct. We've missed this. That he would choose WB - a club he has no connection to - suggests he was open to the hungriest bidder.FQF wrote:You think he has some special connection to WB? Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
With all these mega trades being stone walled by respective clubs...I get the sneaky suspicion that 'pick 1' might be the circuit breaker in all of it and we come out with a cache of first round picks...fingers crossed!
Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
It is the deal of the decade for them... Griffen is a gun... but a 28 year old gun... for Boyd, who may or may not make it as an elite big man.evertonfc wrote:We should have been at the front of the queue for Boyd. We should have been communicating with his management for months.

The choice for us would have been Petracca for Boyd... much riskier... Boyd hasn't shown a lot this year whilst Petracca's stocks are on the rise....
IMO they are welcome to him... and with Jaksch going to Carlton, puts us back in the frame for swapping #1 with GWS.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
Suggests we are not desperate for him. Which begs the question.. why not?evertonfc wrote:Correct. We've missed this. IMO we should wait at least another year before getting in a gun tall... give Spencer a year to see how he is going more regularly at the top level. And even them, I would prefer to recruit a Tall who has shown more than Boyd has.

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
Not so sure... Griffen's an established elite player... Boyd not shown anything at the top level... yet...matrix wrote:shesh no way would i do a straight swap.
gws lose big time imo
would have to have something added like a low pick
Whilst there are plenty of early draft pick Talls who have made an impact (Riewoldt, Pavlich), there are also plenty who have not...
Tom Williams - #6 in 2004 draft - 85 games (Dogs)
Beau Dowler - #6 in 2005 draft - 16 games (Hawks)
Scott Gumbleton - #2 in 2006 draft - 35 games (Bombers and Freo)
Also Kreuzer, Jack Watts, Jarrad Grant....

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
yup elite player
thats 28 years old
reckon they will win a flag by the time he is 32?
if he even makes it to 32 years old on the park?
no way, no deal for me
id want a pick as well, and at least an early second rounder
but thats just me

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
Melbourne apparently trying to get Shiel and Cameron as well. We might miss the boat on the biggest deals going down.
Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
I don't think it will happen this year. No way the Giants trade a 19y.o kid after 1 season in their program. They will stand firm and if he still wants out next year then a trade will be facilitated. Is it just me or have the players got too much control nowadays? Seems like every second player thinks it's ok to try and break a contract?

Next year he's out of contract and could go for nothing.Kernal75 wrote:I don't think it will happen this year. No way the Giants trade a 19y.o kid after 1 season in their program. Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
so lets say griffin goes to gws and they chuck in pick 6 as well
leaves gws with 4, 6 and 19
still cant say id do a swap for pick one
gws have claimed they have been clear to the bulldogs, tom boyd is NOT, under any circumstances up for trade, period.
wonder how long it'll be before they change their tune?

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
They've got more draft currency this year. Despite finishing last, we've only got 1 pick inside the top 20 as it stands, albeit no.1!! Not much we can do about it, especially as the word coming from the industry for months has been a very even top 5-10 players, no absilute standout no.1.gringo wrote:Melbourne apparently trying to get Shiel and Cameron as well. Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
Let them throw the world at an unproven tall forward.
We can then sit back and pick off multiple first rounders and stockpile midfield talent, something we are spectacularly short on in case anyone hasn't noticed. The age of free agency has arrived, each year more and more players will walk with gay abondon now that it's becoming common practise. So once when we stockpile a group of talented midfielders, that runs deeper than the rest, then these key forwards who want to walk, will be queing up to get to us

Please read this quote from the CEO of GWS: "We have been clear with them that despite any speculation or interest, Tom Boyd will not be traded under any circumstances."
He's not going anywhere. This will fizzle out.

Re: Boyd requests trade to Bulldogs - How did we miss this??
Nothing isn't right. They can still offer him up for trade without a contract unless they officially delist him. They are in no worse position next year. If they auction him to a melbourne based club that's their choice. They are obliged to try to get something back for their high pick and development not indulge the whims of a guy who would quite like to go to a club he chooses. I hope the AFL step in and make him honour his contract myself. This player power stuff is getting stupid.FQF wrote:Next year he's out of contract and could go for nothing.Kernal75 wrote:I don't think it will happen this year.
