If we got 4 and 7 instead of 1 id be pleased.
Brayshaw and Pickett could be a good double pick up for us.

The world has gone mad. The Club has to show faith in Stanley and when his body is right give Lee a shot at the title. Sorry but no trades and build through youth and encourage the current crop of young players. I tend to also agree with plugger66 that losing Stanley at this turning point of the Club's rebuild is really a risky strategy. Go Sainters.

I have very little knowledge of what's happening in trade week. But the little I know is extremely confidential. Bit like insider trading. Sorry.sainter#4 wrote:where is Mr. JAxons and Mr. Tony74??? Some updates would be great right now

It sounds ok on the surface Con but what happens if then Petracca goes no1, McCartin no2 and Brayshaw no3 ?Con Gorozidis wrote:http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-07/p ... er-edition

Brayshaw and Pickett could be a good double pick up for us.
We end up taking Wright or going further down in quality.
I think we should focus on midfield talent as a priority and the only certain way of getting that is keeping pick 1.
How we get the third pick inside 21 without letting someone go I don't know.

Well fairly academic anyway - cos it looks like the pies will end up with pick 4. So no way it will be us. But yes Im not that confident in Wright. Too risky.

Re: Official Saints Trade thread
Watched the videos of top 25 that Herald Sun rated.
See why the club wants 3 in top 20 or so.
Would be happy to convert pick 1 into 2 picks in top 12.
Gold Coast a likely target.
I prefer some of the other midfielders by foot rather than petracca who is more the strong bullocking type who is strong above his head and knees. Will be a gun. A+ grader. But not as good for our team overall as two A graders in the midfield. Or even an A grader and a b+ grader for the team.
Add 3 midfielders from inside the first 25 picks gives is 6 quality midfielders inside 2 years to add to Armitage and Steven (who each have 5+ years left of quality footy) with support from a bunch of guys picked on the 30s like Newnes. Murdoch, Saunders, Wright and rookies like Weller, Templeton etc.
Anyway that is what I would do this year.
3 early draft picks before 25 and pick up Membrey using pick 38-40.
Bank some salary cap and next year go hard $ wise at some gun free agents and out of contract players and keep our 2 early picks next year.

3 days and no trades. It's ridiculous. Trade week should be a 5 day working week.

On SEN Brett Anderson indicated GWS will look to package up picks they receive for KJ & JOR as part of a trade for pick 1.

Not seeing Cameron's name on that list. Cameron is the starting point for any Wogan offer for our Christian.

4, 7 & 19 would be a great deal for 1, IMO
Even if Mcartin, Brayshaw, Petracca gone... we can get Lever who dominated as an underager (he and petracca were best performed underagers, i.e. performances in 2013) and also someone like Ahern and 19 may get us Cockatoo, or a slider....
any analysis of history of drafts will tell you that 4,7&19 is *significantly* better than 1, when it comes to chances of success
Re: Official Saints Trade thread
Definitely agree with 4,7,19 being better than pick 1. The question is would GWS do it? And are Carlton desperate enough to give up 7 of Jasksch?

Mooted 7 and a second rounder for 19 21 and Jaksch (or something like that)Shanka wrote:Definitely agree with 4,7,19 being better than pick 1. The question is would GWS do it? And are Carlton desperate enough to give up 7 of Jasksch?
GWS has 18 for JOR
They can then give us 4,7,19
or something

Re: Official Saints Trade thread
Anyone know anything about the rumours of us and Boyd or Tomlinson ?
It's looking more and more like we'll keep No 1 which isn't a bad thing at all.
Hopefully we can find a way to swing another pick in the first round.

Other than Membrane, if we do a trade, i think it will be one out of left field, catch everyone by surprise...
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Official Saints Trade thread
IF we were to trade pick 1 i think it can only really be 2 picks in top 5 if no players involved. Petrecca and Brayshaw top mids, Mccartin, Wright top talls and then a bunch of potential players who may be good but will be more on a needs basis by clubs without obvious standouts. I hope we keep pick 1 unless 2 top 5 picks

Brayshaw and Pickett could be a good double pick up for us.
Brayshaw is thus likely to go Top 3.
That leaves Wright at 4, and IMO taking a ruck/forward so early is a high risk strategy.
The Frawley Pick 3 compo has really cruelled our chances of Maximising a pick swap with GWS.

Re: Official Saints Trade thread
GWS used pick 12 in 2012 to get Jaksch but there has already been two players previously removed from the draft by a mini draft.Shanka wrote:Definitely agree with 4,7,19 being better than pick 1. The question is would GWS do it? And are Carlton desperate enough to give up 7 of Jasksch?
hence he was effectively taken by a pick No 14.
Jaksch has not exactly forced his way into the GWS team.
That should mean his value slips.
Anything above a second round pick would be excessive.
Carlton presently has No 28 but GWS knows that if they don't deal with Carlton they may get to deal with St Kilda who has pick 22.
Jaksch is referred to as a strong mark.
I refer to Stanley as a soft mark.

Sydney used that pick 47 to select Membery who can't force his way into the Sydney side.
We should be offering pick 60 for Membrey or if we offer pick 41 also swap our pick 22 for Sydney's pick 18.
