Cough, Tom Lynch. What did we get out of Lynch? Scenario can't be too dissimilar.
We turned pick 13 into pick 37

I believe Pelchan has stated that we are still able to to retain pick number 1 (which I hope we do) and maintain our strategy of 3 picks inside the top 20. Assuming that we will still count pick 22 as being inside the 20, I have no idea what we could give up to obtain another 1st round pick without trading out Armo or Steven. Any ideas? Dees were chasing Farren Ray pretty hard last year but that wouldn't get it done.

Presuming we are going to trade pick 1, I see there being two more likely scenarios too obtaining 3 picks inside the top 20:

1) GWS have pick 4 and whatever they receive as compensation for Jaksch and O'Rourke. Let's say the get pick 7 from Carlton (with later round swaps) and pick 19 from Hawthorn. Would we trade pick 1 for picks 4 and 7 perhaps? Maybe 19 too depending on how much GWS want Petracca.

2) Gold Coast currently have picks 8 and 15, so they remain an option.

Personally, I hope we draft Petracca and somehow trade in another pick inside our pick 22 without losing Armo or Steven.

O'Rourke has told St Kilda FC that he wants to go to Hawthorn.
Jaksch wants to go to Carlton.

Before you should trade for anyone you need to know he wants to come to to your club.
O'Rourke and Jaksch have chosen elsewhere.
One can only assume before making that desire public they have spoken to the club they want to move to, and that club has told the player they are interested.

O'Rourke, Jaksch going elsewhere.
Move on.

Of course one must remember just because a player nominates a club, there is no guarantee he will get there. Interesting day 2 over and it appears no trades have been done other than free agency.
Is Membrey out of contract at Sydney, because if he is, all he has to do nominate for the pre season draft and we pick him up with our number 1 pick there, no need to trade.

Well I dare say pick 19 for a former pick 2, and what will Jaksch go for? Using the Lynch example, a mid thirties pick, ie, Carltons second...

Any chance Melbourne would give us their picks #2 and #3 for our pick #1 (maybe we have to include our second round pick?)
We would give up Petracca for the next 2 picks in the draft.
Any interest by us in such a deal?

I think there would be plenty from us and absolutely none from Melbourne.

Any deal to get two picks within the first 10 would need to include our pick 1 and pick 22.
But to get 2 top 3 picks it would need to include a player that Melbourne want.
Maybe they give us pick No 2 & 3 for picks 1, 22 and Farren Ray.
But oh how desperate they would have to be for pick No 1.
Simply put they are almost guaranteed 2 class players with pick Nos 2 & 3 but with pick No 22 it could turn sour.
I say almost because they did use a pick No 1 on Jack Watts.

If only Farren Ray were uncontracted and a free agent and wanted to go to Melbourne and Melbourne would pay him big money and had not lost James Frawley.
Then we maybe we get pick 2 as compensation but we would be more likely to get diddly squat due to Ray's age - Carlton got zilch for losing Waite.
Also Melbourne would lose their compensation pick No 3 if they were to take in a free agent.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

This trade period could turn out to be an anti-climax if we only score the Membrane from the Swans.

AFL.com.au
Story suggesting that despite Jaksch wanting to go to Carlton, Carlton's other prospective trades may interfer.
They suggest St Kilda could become his second choice.
GWS may want pick No 1 in return for pick No 4 and Jaksch.
How would people react to that.

I do not want Wright. Ruck/forwards are risky pics....

Pick 1 for 3 + player was ok...bit IMO there is a noticeable drop off after 3

OK that is a no to a swap of first round draft picks.
Let's move to the second round.
We have pick No 22 and GWS pick No 24.

Well. But GWS wouldn't go for it. Pretty obvious the Blues are offering pick 28 so we would need to better it. 22 would get it done IMO.

Jaksch for a 2 pick demotion would be worth it. There probably isn't much difference between 22 and 24 and we'd come away with an extra young player. Picks 1 and 24 plus Jaksch almost counts as 3 picks in the top 20.

Jaksch and 24 for our 22 would be a deal. Could be better players than Jaksch at 22 like Cockatoo + McKenzie but no garauntees they'll be there when the time comes.
