2:00pm: St Kilda list manager Ameet Bains has told the club's website that fringe Sydney forward Tim Membrey has requested a trade to the Saints.

The guy is only 20 years old and has great form, albeit in a low league. He's spent two productive years developing with one of the best teams in the competition alongside some elite players and forwards. Huge scope for development - get him I say.

Sippa seems to be a guy who needs to be forced out of his comfort zone, but has shown enough natural talent to suggest he could be something. I think Longmire and Dew could really see him as a project.

Great idea. Sippa does need a rocket and we don't pay overs which a third round pick for an unproven is.

was behind Franklin, Goodes, Tippett and Reid, however I think Reid is a spud so a bit of a worry.

Th league he has been playing in would be like A grade ammos, not even VFL standard, and his is not really tall enough for a KPP.

we dont exactly have a great record with Sydney fringe players

Dempster & Schneider were both in their best 22 when traded

TDL and the long list of others before him were not.

You dont expect much from a 4th round pick - so that's what I would be looking to give up at most.

Looked at vid on swans tv where he is interviewed post debut game... Looks ok. Third tall fwd option. Would be happy to give him a chance... Was once considered a possible first round pick in 2012.

I think we are still searching for a productive middle-size forward and Membry may be worth the risk. TDL and Milera didn't do the job and Siposs really hasn't made much of a statement when given the chance.

From the little I've seen of Membrey he looks to be a strong marking tall forward in the body of a mid-sized forward. He's certainly a different type to Milera and TDL who were more slightly built outside runners. Membrey won't have their speed of ground skills but looks to be much stronger and better overhead. He strikes me as a prototype VFL full forward who isn't tall enough to play the same role at AFL level.

It would be interesting to see if Membrey would play as a 3rd or 4th "tall". In the short term could you have a forward line of Riewoldt, Stanley, White, Membrey and 2 smalls or is that too top heavy? If Membrey is your 3rd tall, one of Stanley or White misses out until Riewoldt retires. Where does that leave Lee and his 2 year extension? Sipposs becomes a list clogger if Membrey comes in and plays ahead of him.
