Trade Period Starts Tomorrow
Based on winning yet another wooden spoon, provisionally our draft picks would have been
Round 1, No1
Round 2, No19
Round 3, No 37
Round 4, No 55
Round 5, No 73
Round 6, No 91
Round 7, No 109
However Gold Coast (2) and GWS (1) have both activated compensation picks they hold from previous seasons. Gold Coast a round 1 pick from Geelong, and a third round pick from Collingwood, GWS an end of round 1 pick.
That makes our provisional picks 1, 21, 39, 58, 77, 94, 112.
Then we will be bumped down by compensation picks for 2014 free agents.
Western Bulldogs have already been given a 2nd round pick for Shaun Higgins.
But there are other likely free agent compensation picks including James Frawley.
He is likely to turn our picks 21 into 22 and then 40 into 41 etc.
As of Sunday 5 October we hold 1, 21, 40, 59, 78, 95, 113.
We have reduced our primary list by 7 but have committed to upgrading Darren Minchington, Cameron Shenton, Eli Templeton.
That means that as of today, main draft picks 1, 21, 40, & 59 are effectively activated.
Our later round picks at 78, 95, 113 are available to be used to upgrade our main draft picks but other club interest will be very minimal.
Rookie picks 1, 19, 37 are also activated.

Re: Trade Period Starts Tomorrow
Essendon are baned from the first round so wouldn't our provisional second pick be 18 not 19?

They get one at the end of the first round I think. I think Little negotiated that one last year at the last minute before they bowed out of the finals.longtimesaint wrote:Essendon are baned from the first round so wouldn't our provisional second pick be 18 not 19?

Essendon's first round pick was moved to be the last of the first round picks, immediately after Hawthorn.longtimesaint wrote:Essendon are baned from the first round so wouldn't our provisional second pick be 18 not 19?

Yes, you are correct about Milera.stinger wrote:thought we only had six picks at the moment...seven if we drop milera...
I think it is just a formality that he goes.
He is still on our list until the trade period is over but he has little trade value.

Since Milera wanted to return home you'd think even if no trade he'll be delisted. Highly doubt he will be on our list for 2015

Finally, the part of the season we have been waiting for, maybe we should give votes to our list managers.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

We wish them all the best for the next two weeks! The longest amount of preperation time leads to this moment. Bring home the bacon.

Why not keep him if he wants to stay AND if we get the speedster Nakia Cockatoo. Maybe it'll help both players long term with Nakia becoming a potential star. I think we need some of these indigenous guys on our list as magnets if we want to attract and retain silk and speed that the indigenous players offer.Red_White_Black wrote:Since Milera wanted to return home you'd think even if no trade he'll be delisted. Melira is not a required player at our club next year. He is a witches hat in defence.

Im unsure how they can manipulate it illegal and if its done legally then good on them. When have they done it previously anyway?

Collingwood manipulated the draft for Luke Ball and Hawthorn did a shifty with the Lachlan Veale deal.
