You wrote that he is going home. There is nothing in your post that says he is delisted

It was a joke as you asked the same question 5 minutes after I had already answered it.

Well good luck to the guy, should have stuck with us, but them's the breaks, as they say. Better luck in Ireland

I met Tommy through the sponsorship program.
A really nice guy (though a bit hard to understand his accent!!!).

If nothing else he had a go and can say "At least I did something!"

Hope it all works out for him.

Amazing how they made his Gaelic football highlights reel look so awesome. He was meant to be the next Superman

Glad he left us!
I watched him for a couple of years at Sandy. He had a ton of athletic ability, but never really grasped the game.
Obviously made enough out of Sydney to go back to being a gun amateur in Ireland.

He may well be a Superman, but if you cannot read the play.....it will greatly limit your ability to be an effective AFL Footballer.

Look at Majak Daw.

Also look at Nic Nat who also cannot read the play well. He does not know when and were to run. He does ok at the ball ups, as the ball is there, and it is just then "see ball, get ball" with his great speed and reflexes. But when it comes to football judgement like say Dean Cox had in spades, Nic Nat simply does not where to run, and when to run. Where to lead too etc.

It would seem that Tommy Walsh is seen by some as some sort of Messiah who was spurned by the club, and by others as a complete dud. I think it may have been useful to give the guy a run, to at least find out just what he was capable of. I was amazed at all the angst on here surrounding his departure from the club, even though he was clearly told that he was a required player. I blame neither the player, and certainly not the club, for what transpired.

Yes. You are so right. He is an enigma. If you look at his Gaelic football showreel you would say he is a natural fit for our game but he turned out to be anything but.

Brisbane, Carlton and Collingwood drafted better than us reg: Irish players.

Also would have liked to see T.W. get more of a run but that's the way it goes.
Saints have to keep looking. I know the club is with our American recruit but i'd like to encourage it - leave no stone unturned etc.

Thought he left at the end of last year.

Too bad, so sad...

So Dermott McNicol remains our most successful Irish recruit?

Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

Colm Begley had a 100% win record.

i still remember the line spun that the Lovett trade for our first rounder was offset cause we had picked up Tommy (a first round tallent)as a rookie.... that didnt work out AT ALL :)

He seemed to struggle with the bouncing oval ball and reading the play - as mentioned. Just goes to show how hard the game really is. He's certainly not on his pat malone. Many people who grow up with the game struggle with these two things.

For those Irish guys like Pearce Hanley etc that do manage to pick up all of the games skills - I've got a ton of respect.
