I'm sure Richo gave him a big wrap in one of those end of year interviews. I'd hope he's not going anywhere.

Will remain a rookie.
Needs to work on his disposal.
Needs to really want to have an AFL career. Remember got cut from the Sun due to attitude issues

Re: Mav Weller
After needing to upgrade - or cut - Shenton and Minchington, it makes sense to keep at least one rookie on the list and give him assurances he'Lloyd be taken care of.
Just My Opinion

Mav was upgraded in the FutureFest and ahead of other rookies in Templeton, Shenton, and Michington.

Re: Mav Weller
Agree with Bunk, perhaps the club sees him as the sort of guy that needs to know he is on the edge in order to take the next step.
Absolutely no issue with keeping him rookied, he can't go anywhere, and all going well will be upgraded next year, a year older, fitter, hopefully better and maybe it'll have fully clicked, just in case it hasn't already..

He did not get cut from the Suns due to attitude. He was behind a whole bunch of other youngens like another bunch of other youngens. It happens with the expansion sides and not every players gets what is perceived as a 'good go'.Bunk_Moreland wrote:lol - sorry I was wrong.Spinner wrote:Bunk_Moreland wrote:Will remain a rookie.

Re: Mav Weller
Yes he will be fine. When I meant attitude, didn't mean he was a d**khead, meant there were question marks over his attitude to what it took to be an AFL player. The Redeemer wrote:He did not get cut from the Suns due to attitude. Got a good taste of what it was like this season. Don't think it will be too bad for him to stay a rookie for one more season. Will have to be the nominated rookie anyway.
I don't think he will be delisted and if he continues to work hard will be in the starting 22 going forward. However we are bringing in young talented mids into the club, Mav needs to work hard or he may be left behind.

Different positions so different competition, plus early-20s > late-20s.LTN16 wrote:Gwilt also finished top 10 in b&f and got delisted so work that outjimmy_slats wrote:thought he was shoe in for upgrade finished in the top 10 at bnf
I know Curren plays similar roles but can't see them cutting CJ and not retaining Mav.

Not sure where people are getting this 'attitude' arguement from. This bloke trained his a** off over pre-season last year after being delisted by the Suns and from all reports was one of the top performers during the summer.

Exactly. Didn't people notice his body shape? Didn't people notice the defensive side to his game in the VFL? Then the AFL?
This attitude is just a fabrication so people can put a narrative to why he hasn't been upgraded. Has had a better season and more potential than shenton templeton and minch combined last year.
What ever the reason is, it doesn't seem right.

Till your post there I hadn't even made the connect re that building.
Interestingly though, if a certain country from that part of the world (rightly) loses the Soccer World Cup... Oz will bid again... who knows, we might win... then we'd need a couple more strategic stadia to be developed...
