Re: John Butcher chased by Saints - per Facebook
Finished the SANFL season devoid of any confidence.
A long way from the player who burst onto the scene a few years back. Would be a big risk picking him up, but I wouldn't be totally against it.

Re: John Butcher chased by Saints - per Facebook
That's how I understand it. Freo delisted Roberton so he could be drafted as a delisted free agent. Gwilt and Jones are still listed as Saints but are not being renewed as players so are contracted until the time the contract specifies. They are still listed and as such could still get us a compo from free agency.Old Mate wrote:Player contracts expire: 31 Oct.plugger66 wrote:defacto wrote:roberton is an example of a delisted free agent. to be a delisted free agent you need your club to terminate your contract formally with the AFL. this is yet to happen with both gwilt and clinton jones. they have been told that they will not receive a new contract though, so its simply waiting for it to be voided.plugger66 wrote:Old Mate wrote:Wrong. The club has said Gwilt will not be offered another contract. His current contract expires at the end of Oct upon list lodgement. If he is picked up as a FA or during the trade period we may receive compensation at the discretion of the AFL. We've publicly said he won't be offered another contract as a gesture of goodwill to give Gwilt the best chance possible to get picked up and continue his career.plugger66 wrote:defacto wrote:i'm hoping gwilt goes via FA, we get compo around a 3rd rounder. send that to port adelaide for butcher and oshea maybe chuck in some steak knives. would be an amazing deal!!!!saint6709 wrote:As with anyone like this - all I want to know is can he be converted into a key back ???
if no chance of oshea, sending a 4th/5th rounder to port for butcher wouldnt be bad. maybe a rookie list agreement with port. butcher to us as a rookie, milera to port as a rookie
Gwilt has been delisted and even if he wasn't he wouldn't have got any value at all under FA. That's why they let him go early. O'Shea was just another crap rumour.
All contracts finish then so can you explain how other players leave as delisted FA in that period? Look forward to how you prove me wrong after that statement. And the O'Shea makes less sense than Gwilt being on the list still.
both are unrestricted free agents though, so can leave at anytime
How do you know that hasn't happened for either player? Im would just about be sure it has but if you can prove it I certainly will say sorry.
Unrestricted Free Agency period: 3 - 13 Oct.
Delisted Free Agency period: 1 - 12 Nov.
Roberton was picked up in the delisted free agency period.

pluggs
someone actually posted the whole 'not really delisted til their contracts run out in oct' thingy the other day on here somewhere
i remember that because i thought, 'i didnt know that'
so i learnt something
you, prob shouldve known that whole delisting thingy.
because i actually know that you do know quite a bit about football, dispite what your posts come out like some times (you really do need to have a quick check before stabbing that post button)
but, youd especially want to know that you were right if you call someone on it saying its wrong....for a dozen posts
but then again, i wouldnt of got in from work and had a bit of a laugh
all good
anyhoo
john butcher
few people i work with are big Power fans
they rate his work, his effort and his marking highly
they rate his kicking about as good as my misses on her left with her eyes closed in a hail storm with dark sunglasses and high heels on
maybe no one is helping him withe his kicking?
theyve told me it looks like he tries to flick it down, or roll it down onto his foot with the drop
ive never really paid attention to his kicking action the few times that i have seen it.
unlike your good self pluggs i have great faith in the Pelch
i know you dont, and thats all good.

Re: John Butcher chased by Saints - per Facebook
Riewoldt nearly exploded my brain on occasions so another wonky kick at goal so another can't hurt. The games I have seen Butcher play have been pretty much as you described- great mark and endeavour but just seems to lose it when looking at the goal posts. Looks like a mental thing, he needs some serious therapy. If you got him cheap he would be worth the risk. It would be pretty exciting with Lee, Spencer and Butcher down in the goal square. All three have different qualities. Lee is probably similar to Gunston in the way he plays, Spencer more an athletic running tall like A poor mans Buddy and Butcher a bit more like Kennedy from WCE but with out the kicking accuracy. Needs to do the Fred Flintstone run up maybe.matrix wrote:pluggs

Of all the rumours going around - I would rather have John Butcher than Liam Jones, anyday.
Don't think either have been delisted.
No to Heath Shaw

A bit harsh but points for remembering Charlie Gardiner.
Charlie kicked 34 goals in his illustrious 63 game career. Liam has 68 goals from his 66 games so far.
So Liam has him covered I think .

Away from this site I normally refer to one as a solanum melongena.loris wrote:Aubergine, Davey Mac, aubergine, Davey Mac................... c'mon now.......show your intelligenceDave McNamara wrote:plugger66 wrote: By the way I have a very high IQ.plugger66 wrote: I will grag an extra spud for you but im sure you must have many spuds.I'm assuming Pluggs that you are still searching for the "I'm joking" emoticon.plugger66 wrote: The last test I did I get 81 so stick that up your spud.

(Confession. I had to look up both your 'a-word' Loris, and the Latin. And I'm also unsure as to whether or not 'Latin' should have been capitalised in this context(?) )

Maybe he can take a mark but he is the Worst kick in the AFL.
Makes Clint Jones and Farren Ray look like Sam Mitchell and peter Burgoyne.
Please don't. If this finals series has taught us anything it's that good ball use is the absolute number 1 key to success.

Slice it and put in a zip lock bag with salt M, draws out all the bitterness that probably plays you up.
Then flour, egg wash and breadcrumbs.
You're welcome
