Re: Saint Luke
Some posters on Big footy seems to be suggesting the same thing. I would probably ask for more than just Parker. He's a very good player but try to get Memberey or their second pick at least a sweetner.
Re: Saint Luke
according to todays hun...it's a rumor from twitter.......hope it's not true...swans are denying it too.....as is parkerHitTheBoundary wrote:Source?

Re: Saint Luke
Parker is a jet, I'd swap him for pick 1 in a heartbeat...but you have to ask, why in the name of sweet Jesus would the swans trade out their absolute gun young mid when he's only what 21-22 for an unproven pick 1 in a draft lacking obvious star value. I just don't know why they'd do it?!?!

Re: Saint Luke
For the record I seriously doubt this rumour because I doubt the Saints have made a decision and I cant believe Luke would have made a decision on his future this soon after the GF. Wouldn't the recruiters write a report and present to the Board or something? I cant believe they have made a firm decision on anything yet. At the moment they probably have 3 or 4 options they are seriously considering.
But on Parker v Petracca. It makes a very interesting debate.

I think id do it for sure - big difference between a proven star in the AFL and a star in TAC cup. But I cant believe its true. I reckon it is probably a made up rumour just because he is from down our way.

Re: Saint Luke
Local lad coming home - are we trying to reinforce our peninsula ties??
Personally I think he would be a great get .... but a sweetner would be nice
Maybe if the Swans could trade to receive another pick between 10 and 20 ie: Reid/Mitchell to another club then trade on to us in the Parker deal
so Parker + pick between 10 and 20 for our Pick 1
Most likely we may have enquired about Parker but in reality I doubt the Swans would want to let him go

Re: Saint Luke
What is amazing is that in the Player rankings for 2014 Port had 3 in the top 5 and 5 in the top 25. That doesn't include Wingard. They have put together an incredible list.Con Gorozidis wrote:For the record I seriously doubt this rumour because I doubt the Saints have made a decision and I cant believe Luke would have made a decision on his future this soon after the GF. Unless there is some genuine family reason for the swans to let him go it seems like a long shot.

He's an absolute gun. But he won't be leaving the Swans.

Re: Saint Luke
No idea, to be honest. They do have a lot of young mids though. This draft they get Heeney from their academy, next time around they get Dunkley and Mills also for free. Perris and Jones are 19, Brandon Jack and Cunningham are 20, Lloyd and Mitchell are 21, Parker is almost 22, Rohan and Hannebery are 23. Not sure how they fit all those guys into one midfield with Jetta, Bird, Kennedy, Kieran Jack etc still going strong. Might make sense for them to get big value for one of them.Saint wagga wrote:Parker is a jet, I'd swap him for pick 1 in a heartbeat...but you have to ask, why in the name of sweet Jesus would the swans trade out their absolute gun young mid when he's only what 21-22...

Re: Saint Luke
Why would Sydney do this? They are going to pick up Heeney from their Academy who would have gone top 3 or 4 if he was in the draft and will be a gun midfielder so they don't need Petracca, and they certainly don't need tall forwards.

Re: Saint Luke
I know there are no more zones but perhaps our recruiters need to have more people watching local games and maybe feeding information back to them. The richer clubs don't recruit better by accidentDevilhead wrote:Local lad coming home - are we trying to reinforce our peninsula ties??
Saints should make sure we have the framework that ensures we can benefit from our own backyard. Can we invite as many local lads as possible into our academy?
Can we advertise with local clubs and get youth with the right attitude to come to us first to give the Saints more time and opportunity to assess if they have the right stuff to make it?

Big mart started a thread 2 years after Parker was drafted suggesting that the recruiters had overlooked a very good player. No mention before or at the time he was drafted from memory.
I would say Pelchan is fishing for a lot if gun players at the moment, stir up some trouble and then take the best deal.

Indeed. Auctions only get good prices if there is more than one bidder.dragit wrote:

Re: Saint Luke
Taken at pick 25 to 30. Had 2 good years at a good side. Not worth the No 1 pick
