Stanley to Port?

Post: # 1501959Post FQF »

I know it’s been discussed to death, and personally I would prefer to keep him, but Hinkley made some interesting comments that Port are deep in discussions with another club about drafting a forward/ruck. It’s not Lycett, Ryder or Vickery. Could very well be Stanley though. The possible positive here is that teams on the cusp of premierships often pay overs for a player they think will be the finishing touches on their flag quest. I wouldn’t want anything less than a first rounder for Stanley though – I still believe that he will come good.

I for 1 would put him on the Untouchable list. I think When we improve he's going to be unstoppable no coincidence our 2 best team games this year were when he looked awesome no defender can go with him.

I think he's been saying that Ryder is a long shot but they are in discussions with another.

Ryder would have got Port over the line.
They should throw the house at him agree.

I guess they are worried he might choose Brissie instead.

He's apparently very keen to get to be near his wife's family in Queensland. They would have to make it really tempting.

The chance to win a premiership would be an awful big incentive.

I still don't know why you're saying it. I thought you might have some inside info.

Can understand exactly why Port would like Stanley. Pretty sure he's from Adelaide too.

As has been mentioned, he was outstanding in out two best wins, and i reckon he'd be a real asset in a good team.

Personally, I would not swap him for their 1st round pick, I'd want more. We got a good deal for McEvoy and I reckon Stanley is a lot more valuable than Ben. A good young midfielder, their 1st draft pick plus steak knives may do it for me. But I'd rather keep him.

I think we would swap him in a heartbeat for pick 15 and IMO we should but they could get a better player than Stanley with that pick. I reckon he is a late second rounder and not worth losing because we don't have anyone on our list who can play his 2 positions.

Would you let them have Spencer White for pick 15?

I cant see Port having any interest in Spencer. They are ready to go now. They need a hardened AFL player who can play 20 games plus finals. Ryder perfect fit for Port. Then Stanley would also be very handy at Port.

And for us - wed be trading an unknown kid (Spencer) for an unknown kid (pick 15).

Absolutely spot on plugger. If they were to offer pick 15 you'd do it in a heartbeat but they won't so it's not an issue. Honestly can't believe some here saying they wouldn't trade him or if they would they require a first round pick + something else??! That's crazy for a player that has honestly played a handful of good games...that's right games...not seasons

I think Port will want Stanley however with the focus now on Petrecca i don't think we can afford to lose him. We have suffered the teasing from Stanley and he now has 50 games and just hitting his straps, to me trading is like buying a spec stock and the just as it is about to rise selling - makes no sense.

Well it does it you get overpaid. No one will though. And I don't buy this 50 games stuff. Surely its years in the system otherwise there is no point n keeping Marksworth as he most likelt wont get to 50 games for another 3 or 4 years. Stanley has been in the system for a long while now and needs to become a better player or at least more consistent.
