I want Murdoch to be good, his build nod the massive kick get me excited.gringo wrote:It's funny I'm unsure about Murdoch- he's got some good points but doesn't get much of it. Sadly I don't think he gets it enough either.

I not sold on Rupie either. I wouldn't mind him being made a rookie if that can be done at this stage.gringo wrote:It's funny I'm unsure about Murdoch- he's got some good points but doesn't get much of it. I think Murdoch and Saunders are at similar levels. I like their endeavour. They are no stars but no club has 40 stars on their list. You need some players who are just good foot soldiers and I think Murdoch and Saunders are that.

So when is the next signing
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

I would put Saunders quite a bit ahead of Murdoch. I know they are different types but Saunders seems like he's a fair bit ahead to me. He's had a few 20 possession games as a defensive forward which is about where I'd expect him to be. Murdoch seems more like a KP mid sized forward a bit like Marworth or Siposs. I'm not sure how to best use any of them.

Re: Young Saints on cusp of signing new deals
Off the top of my head, it seems like Murdoch has played as a sub more often that he's played a full game. It is very hard to build any sort of consistency or comfort at the top level when he only ever plays for 20-30 minutes.
I'm hoping that he will get himself fit enough to become a big bodied midfielder. Not sure if he's capable of that though.

He does seem to be more of a half forward than a midfielder at the moment. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Who knows what sort of player he'll be in a couple of years.FQF wrote:Off the top of my head, it seems like Murdoch has played as a sub more often that he's played a full game. It's the hardest role to get a gig in at the Saints it seems. Siposs and Markworth more the competition and both are playing VFL more than seniors. Dunnell was probably that mid sized forward as well.
Well done to Seb too. He's progressing well -quietly improving.

Re: Young Saints on cusp of signing new deals
We have to take three in the draft. With no trades or priority picks or concession picks that would be picks 1, 19, and 37.borderbarry wrote:Disappointed we have promoted Minchington. That means all of our rookies are considered better than what we could have got in the draft. I dought it. Anyway now we can take four rookies.
If that's all we take in the National Draft you are only saying they are better than pick 55 (which would have been our next pick). But we than have room to take four rookies and see what they've got without the same commitment you have to make to a National Draft pick.
If we take four players in the draft, you can compare them to pick 73.

Re: Young Saints on cusp of signing new deals
Agree. We've been able to have a decent look at our rookies this year and, given we're going have to fill some spots on our list somehow, they obviously feel these guys are probably better than what we'd be getting in the fourth round.kosifantutti wrote:We have to take three in the draft. Re: Young Saints on cusp of signing new deals
Remember thought we get pick 1 in PSD which MAY be more valuable than a 3rd round national draft pick depending on how the trade period goes.

Re: Young Saints on cusp of signing new deals
Promoted Rookies are counted as draft picks, so as it stands, because we are promoting Templeton, Shenton, Minchington & probably Weller, we have already made our three compulsory list changes. So wouldn't have to use a pick. But of course we will!kosifantutti wrote:We have to take three in the draft.
