I find it hard to believe you can't see the attraction to players, members and sponsors for the team St Kilda to have a footprint in St Kildabtw - I'm fine with moving to the JO (or whatever the club decides) but I'm not going to agree that it will be more attractive to players, and increase membership - because it wont - it should provide better facilities which may or may not help team/club performance).

Re: St Kilda to chase Kristian Jaksch
KJ is leaving because he isnt enjoying Sydney and is looking for "opportunity" in Melbourne.
Clubs are offering "opportunity" but there is also the lure of playing in 'big games ' and in front of big crowds. To a young prospect that's an irresistible carrot.
Much work to be done to make the club tempting.Crowds , membership and competitiveness needs to improve.
It's a combination of many things.

Sydney supposedly started it, while they had Barry Hall on their list FFS.
Most footballers are dickheads… sorry to all those players out there reading this /notsorry
Nick Davis possibly had the greatest d**khead factor of any player ever. Everitt went because we couldn't stop him glassing policemen and racially vilifying people. I'm not sure it wasn't some kind of slogan to distract people from reality. I think they possibly had a nobody but dickheads policy.
Re: St Kilda to chase Kristian Jaksch
Off to the Doggies for 5 years according to 3AW. That chase was short lived.

As 99% on here that are mentioned will be. I think I have only seen 4 trades mentioned here that have actually happened in the 7 years I have posted on here.

its a long and winding road to draft time so I would not be putting his name on a locker nor taking it off just yetplugger66 wrote:Kernal75 wrote:Off to the Doggies for 5 years according to 3AW. That chase was short lived.

Re: St Kilda to chase Kristian Jaksch
The no dickheads thing did seem like a myth.
I am sure they had as many as every other club. Fairly subjective anyway. One mans d**khead is another mans best mate and vice versa.
Did they have a panel of d**khead judges? Who decided anyways.

Re: St Kilda to chase Kristian Jaksch
Are we in the hunt for any talent? Maybe we can hire this guy http://www.martinstjames.com/ - "The world's greatest hypnotist" to sneak around and wave a pocket watch in front of likely talent and tell them they have an unstoppable urge to play with the Saints at half their normal wage... It's gotta work once, doesn't it?

Re: St Kilda to chase Kristian Jaksch
Liam Jones so far looks like a very similar prospect to Stanley and slightly ahead of Tom Lee.
He has his 2-3 very good games per season but cant get consistent.
http://www.aflplayerratings.com.au/Rati ... Liam-JONES
23yo 198cm
66 games 68 goals
Averages 4 marks per game. Ranked 10th in total contested marks in the AFL in 2013. Took 96 marks in 2011 when he was only 20.
So he can clearly play the game - but like Rhys has real problems playing more than 3 good games per year.
Forgetting Rhys or Lee for a minute - Another way to look at it - is that he is an improvement on Maister in the same position and with more possible upside.

He is a KPF and might actually be better suited to a KPB role. He's quick and tall.Con Gorozidis wrote:Liam Jones so far looks like a very similar prospect to Stanley and slightly ahead of Tom Lee.

I hope the Pelican doesn't ask the Bullfrogs to throw in Ayce Cordy as the steak knives.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Improves Sandy's list. Surely we don't need C graders for more depth.
Re: St Kilda to chase Kristian Jaksch
People seem happy to pick up relatively failed players under the delusion we are going to magically make them stars. You need a contending team around "effort" players to get improvement and we don't have that.
The whole point of our rebuild is to unearth the quality that Port currently has. Don't even bother with "fill the gap till we contend" types just get high end talent. There is no short cut unless you have big sponsors, COLA and a sh#t load of cash to splurge - well that's a big zero out of three for us.
Patience and another hobby for the next season or 2 will help.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Exactly. Yep you may get the one in 100 star from a guy struggling at another club but 99 of them will not improve the list. Better to take a punt on a Justin Sweeney than a Dean Polo.

There does not yet seem to be any mention of Kristian Jaksch joining the Dogs apart from yesterdays radio report...

Man noone ever thought of that.PJ wrote: just get high end talent. .
Ok - lets just go out and recruit 38 stars in the next two years.
We can just go to the 'high end talent shop' and put in an order. Heck we can probably order online.
Problem solved by pj.
