Here are ten ways to know you’re a die hard Saints Fan
From The Herald-Sun...
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victor ... 7054043365
1. You knew exactly what it meant when Jason Blake kicked that goal in the final round of 2013.
2. You know that if the AFL allowed extra-time in Grand Finals instead of taking the extra money from a replay the Saints would have had their second flag in 2010.
3. You hate Ross Lyon for leaving the club with an unbalanced list and untested youth, but in your heart you know that if we’d won one of those three Grand Finals he would be a legend.
4. You know that Moorabbin will always be St Kilda’s spiritual home.
5. You will never understand why so many people have a crack at Nick Riewoldt when he is the hardest-working player in the AFL.
6. You knew that Steven Baker was a scapegoat for the tribunal system. Nine weeks? Seriously! #stillbitter
7. You are eternally grateful to the team of 1966.
8. You knew that Max Hudghton deserved to play in the 2009 Grand Final ahead of Zac Dawson, and you were more than happy to see Dawson follow Ross Lyon to Freo.
9. You resent Geelong’s continued success while we pick up the wooden spoon during our rebuild.
10. You know that greatness isn’t just measured in premierships and that the 2009-10 era was a magnificent time for our club with a team that gave it all they had.
I added the following in the comments section...
* You love the fact that Tony Lockett was the greatest full forward of the VFL/AFL but hate the fact he is remembered more in a Sydney jumper. In fact, you hate the fact that the Swans have been poaching Saints players since Roy Cazaly.
* You prize loyalty over any other quality in a footballer and remember with great fondness players like Barker, Harvey, Loewe, Burke and Hayes who gave up more money to stay Saints.
* You wake up in the dead of night in a cold sweat screaming out for someone to get on Darren Jarman.
* You still blame the idiots that ran on to Football Park to celebrate the G-Train's 100th goal for losing the 2004 Preliminary Final to Port Adelaide.

Knowing who kicked the winning goal from outside 50 with seconds to go in an early home and away game in 2004 to signal the real arrival of the modern successful era! (Ok So i'm a bit biased as this sort of coincided with me 1 getting hooked on AFL Footy and 2 becoming a mad saints fan!)

You'll resent the media for constantly painting St Kilda as the AFL'S weird f*** up club, at the the same time being subconsciously proud of its soul and identity, and being madly frustrated by our club's never-ending habit of shooting themselves in the foot at key moments, yet being fiercely defensive in the face of criticism from fans of other clubs for our club's never-ending habit of shooting themselves in the foot at key moments.
Just My Opinion

Happened today. 97 GF with a Dogs fan who was 100% sure they would have knocked us off had they made the last dance.SemperFidelis wrote:LOL. Nailed it.dragit wrote:* You've abandoned real world friends to spend your entire life arguing with complete strangers about things that happened long ago.
Also if you know the Crows kicked 14 goals 1 behind in the second half of that game.

You hope in your heart of hearts that maybe your great grand child will live to see the saints win their second flag!

That whenever u are watching TV and you see the colors red white and black together you yell out go the saints and the misses calls you an idiot.
Re: Here are ten ways to know you’re a die hard Saints Fan
Seems i qualify as a die hard but im curious as to whether people would really remember Lockett as more of a swans player than a saint? I would have thought the opposite

would be a saints player to anyone who saw his career here (bar swans supporters, most of whom are football ignoramuses anyway).patto wrote:Seems i qualify as a die hard but im curious as to whether people would really remember Lockett as more of a swans player than a saint? You remember 'Dancing In The Dark' by The Boss playing at the Saints disco
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

- You know we have the best supporters in the league as no other team's supporters has the character, passion, or loyalty to keep coming back each season, generation after generation, in search of our next flag.
Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."

You know when you're a Saints fan when you sit at home and wonder "how the hell have the presidents and boards and members of this club managed to ensure ongoing mediocrity over so many years, and why on earth do I keep supporting this?"

Well discussed on here, a good % do not hate Lyon
8. You knew that Max Hudghton deserved to play in the 2009 Grand Final ahead of Zac Dawson, and you were more than happy to see Dawson follow Ross Lyon to Freo.
Again well discussed here, and since Zac was the player of the finals for us a pretty ridiculous comment, and have we not missed a big backman since he left (by the way was fantastic against Tippett last week)

totally disagree, I barrack for the colours. We made a GF shortly after Lockett left and again when Hall left, loyalty is nice but at what cost
