Thats one unbelievable fwd line.
The AFL is a reflection of society as a whole - widening gap between top and bottom.
So much for 'equalisation'. Who needs draft picks when you can just cherry pick good players once they hit their mid 20s.

Clark was having an affair with a stripper, his wife found out through text messages found on his phone, wife gave ultimatum, Clark left her and shacked up with the stripper. After a few months, stripper walked out on him. Hence the downward spiral into depression.

Or the poor guy could have had bad depression. I usually choose to beleive the good in people so i will go with that based on a Ormond boy at melbourne telling my mate that is fact in his opinion.

Re: Mitch Clark
Hawthorn with their beyond blue president were pretty darn quick to handball Nathan Thompson off to North the moment he was diagnosed so I don't think they will consider Mitch.

Its called using the SC properly. Why can they do it and we couldnt? Dont blame the AFL, blame our club at the time. We had the SC to the max.

What has Garlett got do with it? Are you suggesting the Hawks are crap at recruiting or something? Not sure I get the link?whiskers3614 wrote:Gee too bad especially after all the success they had with Garlett.FQF wrote:Reportedly looking like he'll be at Hawthorn. Surprise surprise.

Thompson played the 2005 season at North. Kennett started as Hawthorn President in December 2005. Please get your facts right.
Re: Mitch Clark
Ross Lyon just pretty much dismissed him as an option, and as a person, referring to him as a very sick man several times..
Quite harsh, possibly true, but a cutting assessment given his tone and context.. Won't help Mitch's state of mind I wouldn't have thought. Not that Ross would give a flying..

Melbourne delisted him based on the all the evidence. Sorry but he cant be forced back there. Hopefully we grab in the PSD.

Maxed-out salary cap (unlike the Hillbillies, and to a lesser extent the Dawks and the Skunks) is why we couldn't boost our infamous 'bottom six' under Ro$$y, nor try to trade-in bigger names. IMHO that cost us, at the very least, two flags.
Imperative to be fixed.
That's why our salary cap situation was one of the first things the Pelican and team set about addressing. Hence a large reason (whether people like it or not) as to why the likes of BJ and Dal were let go... remember, under FA rules, we had 72 hours to match the Bumbler's offer, and BJ would have had to stay... I think we took about 72 seconds to say we wouldn't match their crazy offer.
Now that our cap is sorted, as of next year's trading period (2015) we'll be in a position to start liberating from other clubs select top line players who fit our required age demographic... ready for season 2016 onwards.
Our club is going to be awesome! But, just a little more patience I reckon Saintsationalists...
PS: IMHO, doing the sums,
Mitch Clark is a bit old to fit our required age demographic,
and would hinder the development of Rhys, Spencer, Tommy Lee and our quad-rucks.
I also reckon that we can liberate someone far more 'appropriate' from one of the AFL bastard love-child creations at the end of 2015. (Which, as a bonus, would also be far more 'satisfying'.)

Caro said on 3aw tonight (as well as Patrick Smith on SEN) that St Kilda would be one of the front runners for his signature. She seemed like she was a little skeptical about him though, and said he would be a big risk.

Re: Mitch Clark
If we are rebuilding for a tilt at a flag in say 3-6 seasons time, why would we get Clark?
Age: 26yr 10mth. So 27yr 4 mth when the ball bounces for the 2015 season.
2015 and 2016 as a minimum we will still be building via youth.(Including youngish players from other clubs).
That would mean that when we are trying to have our next crack at the quickest in 2017 that Clark would 29.
More likely it would be later than that. So Clark would be in his 30s.
If he was a cheap PSD pick you might consider it. But even then it really does not make any sense for the Saints to pick up an uncertain player who will be 27 next year.
Doggies are a few years in font of us. It would make sense for them. Maybe Cats, maybe the Hawks.
We are two seasons away from possibly being set up to chase 27 year olds.
