St Kilda Head of Football Chris Pelchen said the Saints were pleased to extend the alignment.

“St Kilda and Sandringham have had a long and rewarding history together and we are extremely pleased to have the Zebras as our VFL affiliate until the end of 2016,” Pelchen said.

“While our intention remains to field a standalone VFL team based at Moorabbin, we see the recently revitalised alignment with Sandringham as providing mutual benefits for both clubs."

“The redevelopment project at Moorabbin will not be completed in time for the 2016 season, so this new agreement will provide St Kilda and Sandringham sufficient opportunity to prepare for the transition into standalone clubs.”

Our club does a fair bit of talking but not much action. We obviously dont have either the money to go out on our own or the Morrabbin thing has been held up but either way its again bad news for the club. If the WB can do it then we should be able to do it. Very disappointing.

Sandringham CEO John Mennie said. “We are pleased the alignment has been extended and welcome the extra time for our Club to prepare for the future. The Club also benefits financially from the decision and this will enable the Club to clear the remaining debt from the Social Club refurbishment”.

"This year the alignment has worked very smoothly thanks to the cooperation of Alan Richardson and Chris Pelchen and we look forward to both Clubs enjoying success over the next two years" Mennie said.

SANDRINGHAM general manager John Mennie has poured praise on outgoing senior coach Simon McPhee, saying he made an outstanding contribution to the Zebras.

And Mennie declared McPhee could coach an AFL club.

After three years in the position the former West Australian stood down following Sandy’s semi-final loss to Port Melbourne.

He will concentrate on his role as manager of the St Kilda Academy program.

“He’s been fantastic for us down here with the development of our young players,’’ Mennie said of McPhee.

“We can certainly see it with the way our kids have come through in the past two years and so many of them playing senior footy this year.

Sandringham Skipper Adam Cockie signs on for 2015

Sandringham captain Adam Cockie has signed a new contract, tying him to at Trevor Barker Beach Oval until the end of 2015.

"I'm very excited. The club's going somewhere, and I want to be a part of the success, we want to keep this young group together and really build something and achieve something special together" Cockie said.

A super tough midfielder, Adam is hard at the football and has an outstanding work ethic. Adam is a smart player with good all round ball winning ability, and is a ferocious hard hitting tackler. After missing out in the 2007 AFL Draft, Adam was determined in 2008 to make an impact. After making his WAFL debut in 2008 he played every game including the premiership for Subiaco and also did well representing WA against Queensland. Cockie was picked up by West Coast in the 2009 rookie draft and made his AFL debut in round 6 of the 2009 season and managed 7 games during the season. Cockie was eventually delisted at the end of the 2010 season after injury problems and returned to Subiaco in 2011 before coming across to Sandringham for the 2012 VFL Season, he has now played over 50 games for the Zebras and represented Victoria on 2 occasions (2013 & 2014).

Nice pick-up for @sandyzebs in tall Max Hayes, who was at Williamstown this year. Played for Sandringham Dragons and Vic Metro in 2013.

Presentation evening was one of the best ones I have attended at Sandy
Largest crowd for some years-
most of playing group and good number of St Kilda players in attendance.
Sam Dunnell spoke well on winning the Jack Barker and running second in the B&F - had his family present
Tom Simpkin spoke of hoping to NOT playing too often at Sandy next year- taken in good manner by all-

General mood was a massive 180o from last year- all mutual respect and congeniality, several of St Kilda Football department present- a couple apologies due to illness, including Football dept head and List Manager and Developement coaches.

word from one Saint ( now former) is that he is looking to sign on at Sandy- there may be another I was informed.

the Lure of 'country Dollars' ( or outer suburban) draws AFL players away from signing with VFL teams.
