After trying to count Lenny's tackles in the first half, I've got to say this is a pretty meaningless record. I counted two in the first quarter and they counted 5. I counted two early in the second and they counted one.

Unlike goals, frees, marks, kicks etc it's very much dependent on the interpretation of the stats man.

Hi kosifantutti , tackles are a bit funny but they only count if the tackle affects the play. E.g. If Lenny laid a tackle but the bloke being tackled managed to get a handball away (or an effective kick for that matter) it wouldn't be counted.

What a ripper! Needed 8 tackles and gets 13! Typical bloody Lenny Hayes. Champion of the club and the AFL.

Yes, but Hayes and Bolton were drafted the same year and so played in an identical era. That makes the relative comparison valid.
