Unless the tuckshop lady at the Seaford facility is part of the forum I doubt you will get much support

I'll be the proxy for that one guy that always attends the AGM and states during question time....

"Can we look at building our own stadium at Seaford and playing games there"

He must live next door.

They don't have to cross the road to get to the oval. They have plenty of room for expansion. They're close to the freeway. There's more parking at Seaford.

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

I imagine any supporter who lives closer to Seaford than to the Junction should be in favour of staying at Seaford.

It's probably the least nice part of frankston. Bordering on a big freeway, access at the end up a quiet suburban street, nearer the pines than the beach.

If they really wanted to, Frankston oval would have been a much better spot. Really nice ground with view of the bay. Walking distance to shops and the beach.

Back to St Kilda!

Actually, if you read the news today Tony Dodemaide isn't too happy with the announcement. I think Carrow's Arrow missed its mark this time.

Seaford is StKilda's training base and the work location of our players. They are paid to train at Seaford; they are not paid to seek out favoured coffee shops. By the opinions of some you would think the availability of a quality latte is core to the success of our team.

It is not.

Any return to StKilda is still a pipe dream at this stage. On other threads, some posters' comments suggest they are disappointed that the mooted return to StKilda does not include playing there. Get real. These are probably leftover souls from a Keep Saints at Moorabbin (later to become Keep Saints at Waverley) or whatever the group may have been called. In short, they are out of touch with reality. It would be interesting, though, to watch them cross-pollinating with the similarly deluded Save Albert Park group.

If it happens, it happens. I don't believe it will, not in Caro's suggested time frame anyway. Until then Seaford is our home base.

I am in Mornington also, and Seaford suits me best for those rare occasions I can get along to training or to order merchandise online from the club and arrange to pick it up from Seaford on my way home from work.

But its not about me, or about any other individual. It's what about what is best for our club, as an entity, in our pursuit of our next flag and building our organisation into a powerhouse.

If that means developing Seaford, awesome, if that means redeveloping the Junction Oval option, awesome. Whatever gets the job done. I just want our players and staff to have access to cutting edge facilities. I just want our club to have facilities that help them drive their membership and enable them to present our best face to the rest of the industry and to the media.

I don't understand people cheerleading for one location over another, unless it is out of self-interest?

Let's just make sure we don't get screwed like we did at Etihad. That is my greatest fear of this proposal, we go rushing into a deal on emotion instead of logic.
There's an old saying, if the deal looks to good to be true it is because it is.
As for a good coffee, just buy a coffee machine and make it yourself.

Terrific sentiments there TB.

I am a cheerleader for the Junction and Im not even living in Victoria at the moment - so it wont help me personally in the short term at least. I just feel the Junction would provide the most solid cultural base, great opportunities for sponsorships, greater opportunities to introduce new fans or new people to the game and the club and a great place for people to work and attract talent. Put all those things together and it gives us a better long term shot of surviving in a professional competitive comp.

Seaford is fine for locals but can we grow there or are we just preaching to the converted ????

If we dont grow we cant survive and for me the Junction provides an opportunity for new growth and to become the envy of other clubs. Not just AFL clubs - but the envy of all football clubs in the country. Now there other factors at play - but we probably have the worst sponsorships in the AFL at present - Im not just blaming Seaford because it is multi factorial but I dont think we can just keep doing what we are doing. It isnt just a tough AFL market we are competing in - the facilities and options for A League fans is now outstanding.

Seaford is good for bland suburban fans who feel intimidated by the borough of St Kilda's 'cosmopolitan' streets, and/or parking prices.

It's also a convenient way of avoiding being seen as indecisive and flaky. It will probably help Archie Fraser sleep better at night. Where is Archie anyway these days? Ran back to Scotland to start an argument?

Yep. + 1.

Lets not fool ourselves. Archie Fraser completely farked us up. He had NO idea and NO care about the Saints history/culture or future. The blame needs to be firmly planted at his feet and the WEAK Board who accepted his recommendations. But flogging a dead horse and sticking it out is not the way to deal with an historical mistake. Best to cut your losses and start again.

Seaford would be fine if we want to play in the MPFL or something but this is the AFL - this is big business. If we stay in Seaford we will perish or be shipped of to NZ or Tassie. We shouldnt kid ourselves Seaford is sustainable. We cant grow and we cant attract sponsors in Seaford. We will slowly perish. Maybe not even slowly ....

Where is Archie now? He never gave a flying F*** about us. He just wanted a short term solution to a personal ego clash. Disgraceful it was allowed to happen. Those on the Board at the time should be named and shamed.
