Will CJ get a guard of honour?

Surely our hopes and dream will eventuate tomorrow afternoon...

Perhaps a pre-recorded message of thanks from Gill?

If its only a small guard of honour he might set it on fire.

I hear the Munchkin cast from the Wizard of Oz will form a guard of honour in his name.

This kind of post s***s me.

Jones gave 100 per cent effort in every game he played for us, got the absolute most out of limited ability.

Was good enough to hold his place in the best St Kilda side I have seen in 2009.

The guy deserves some respect for his efforts, not people taking the piss out of him.

Yes his time is up, but as so called supporters of the club we should show some respect to him.

Well said. The guys who work up from the state leagues and make it based on an incredible work ethic should be regarded with awe not disdain. These guys didn't get a scholarship to a luxe private school and get spoon fed through TAC cup. They got passed over and went back and just worked their fingers to the bone to get a chance and once there gave their all. He should be given as much respect as Lenny, both had impeccable work ethics and were great club men. Lenny happened to be born with more talent so is a hero to all and Clint was just a foot soldier who was always at the front line so is treated with smirks and disdain by his own "fans".

I would be proud if my kid grows up to do what Clint has done. If this is it for him he will be fondly remembered by me for his contribution to one of the greatest era's the Saints have had. If I was a coach it's guys like him that all younger players should model themselves on.

Clint jones was a great player. He was the number 1 tagger in AFL in 2009. No small feat. He beat arguably the greatest player of all time in G.Ablett. Not many can say that.

2 bounces the different way he is a back to back midfielder who was always picked in the starting 18.

respect.

No doubt at all that CJ deserves a ton of respect for what he got from his career coming over from the WAFL as a mature ager. Incredible work ethic.

I still found sainternist's post very funny though :D

If CJ is to be delisted, and given the form of Weller that would seem quite possible, he deserves to be honoured for his excellent contribution to the Saints....rather than bagged.

For several years he was the best tagger in the AFL.

Well done CJ.

So he does not have talent and thus, cannot kick the ball. He consistently made it more difficult for players around him because he would never kick. He would consistently sell his own players into trouble due to scared handball's to other players in traffic.

So what if he tried hard? This club is not a charity for unskilled, unintelligent players to 'try' to play at the highest level.

He should have been chopped after year 3 such was his crappy disposal then however it is become worse.

He became a good tagger in a great team. McQ, Eddy and Raph Clarke played in the side too and they were terrible. It is more a display of the top end talent compared to the sheer crapness of whatever was down the bottom.

Redeemer you come across as a very timid insecure < editd by mods. Poster warned for abuse. > and I don't think it would surprise anyone if they were to learn that 9 out of 10 grade 3 girls would be capable of scaring you into submission. Probably could have responded with one word...WEAK!

I can't believe how much we turn on our own. It's about bloody time we stick together through everything to come out stronger and better when our next tilt at the flag is in process. Cj was one of the best

Redeemer with a history of hate towards certain players in particular Jones. Even outdoes his normal vitriol by slagging 4 players in the one post. Seems to take great pleasure in bagging players.
You are the type that makes me ashamed to barrack for the same side.
Sick of your racist, insecure and bullying posts

Exactly, and if he is to retire as one of the best taggers in the comp. A BIG thankyou is in order.

Wonders if these same supporters bagged Blake. Either way they don't barrack for the club, they just wear the colours

Probably wanna be magpie supporters or trolls.

Very disappointing thread.

CJ has been a magnificent campaigner for us.
At his peak he was the best tagger in the comp.
Nice bloke as we'll.

Crap post from someone who by what is said here knows very little about what it takes to make it in football and that it takes all kinds of different talent and roles to make a great football team!

So what are you going to do about it then?

Similarly, Jones has a history of crap. Absolute crap and we are all jazzing it up to make it as if he was once an amazing tagger.

in 2009 we were the best defensive team in history and it sure as hell was not driven by Jones.

So no reason to get all revisionist just because a player who is utterly crap and has the kicking skills similar to most of us is retiring. Sheesh, y'all are a precious.
