Why?

Why not some white boys with flair?

Con Gorozidis wrote:Not sure id narrow it down to indigenous... Id just say we haven't had a good run with our players/recruitment recently full stop.

All the other clubs seem to be going ok on the indig front despite the 'Matt Rendell controversy'.

Of course some wont make it. But the majority of white blokes dont make it either. Yet it seems when an indig bloke doesnt make it its cos hes indig. Probably just not quite good enough (with the exception of Liam Jurrah who was good enough - but where indig issues have certainly played a part). I think one thing is not to lump them in all together. Most indig kids are just regular city kids who probably know bugger all about their culture and the old ways etc and then you get a few like Liam that are seriously really living the full bush lifestyle.

But overall - if you look at the top 5 sides - then indig footy is still healthy, alive and well at AFL level.

Speaking of - Border Barry - have you heard anything about Ross T at Albury?
..

Yeah I'm not sure what indigenous has got to do with it. That is a very strange comment by Sainter K. Maybe she could elaborate.

Elaboration on her constant backhanders towards Pelchen would also be helpful. Just hard to understand as the comments are cryptic and lacking detail.

Love if both Adelaide clubs wanted him - bidding war - reality maybe mature rookie or SANFL

Exactly. I find it amazing that the dysfunctional ones are aboriginal but you don't get constant references to guys like Franklin or Johnny Patton's aboriginal heritage. Aboriginal players percentage is very high in the AFL compared to the percentage in general society. An anglo aussie is probably statistically less likely to make 50 AFL games than an indigenous guy is the irony but no one pulls out a pencil and writes it in a ledger based on the players race.

Not afl standard because he lacked toughness. Had skill but not enough ticker.

I think he's suited to slingshot footy...he and Matty White, set play, running forward of the ball

Not a bad assessment. Its not real easy for a small fwd the way we have played the last 2 years. Worth considering when judging Tez.

Usually comes in rarely, slowly and haphazardly. Its a small fwds graveyard. Eli did ok in the first two games when we had faster fwd entry. I dare say had he not been injured he might have found things dried up and became much much tougher after that.

Why is it backwards?

My initial post highlights multiple issues:

1. People enjoy jumping on the idea of racism and getting all high and mighty.

2. Why continue to do something that is not working?

3. Our Indigenous picks don't work and Milera is another example of it not working. If draft picks are finite, why commit to hail mary plays just because it warms the soul that we take on some Indigenous projects? Why not do what works more often compared to socially-responsible nonsense.

4. Waylen Manson highlighted what most thought anyway

So Sainter K you said the club doesn't have a good track record with indigenous players, what did you mean by that?

milera ust didnt fulfill his potential

in our 2009 team he would have been an icing on the cake player, bobbing up for easy goals

"Milera is contracted until the end of 2015 but St Kilda will support his interest in returning to South Australia subject to a satisfactory trade being completed"
He'll probably end up at Port for pick 75

Our 3rd and Milera for their 2nd wouldn't be a bad result

Whether he's white back or yellow he's just not AFL standard imo.

Good luck to him if he gets another chance but I wouldn't be surprised to see him spending the majority of the year in the sanfl.

May be why they signed him for the extra year. So that we would have have some trading leverage.

Maybe some players who can get there hands on the ball would help too.

Pretty certain there was a post by you, one or two before Con's first post that is also is a direct response to you claiming the club doesn't have a good track record with indigenous players. Why did you delete it?

Well you should be certain, not "pretty" certain when you claim I'd say such a thing.

I deleted nothing.

I said no such thing.

strange you didn't mention that straight up and strange you feel my comments are part of a witch hunt.

Anyway suffice to say who ever said it was making an incorrect statement IMO because you could argue the club doesn't have a good track record with numerous players from our past and not just indigenous players. Was an irrelevant point to make.

Glad you were amused. ..it makes coming here worthwhile.
