Re: Milera asks to return to SA
Id like to see him given another chance at Port - but hes really got it in all in front of him trying to break into a side like that...

Does not help reduce the age of our list. I am disappointed he is going. We are not having a good run with our indigenous players recently.

It's a shame, but we now must draft some pace and players that can hit a target.

Re: Milera asks to return to SA
Not sure id narrow it down to indigenous... Id just say we haven't had a good run with our players/recruitment recently full stop.
All the other clubs seem to be going ok on the indig front despite the 'Matt Rendell controversy'.
Of course some wont make it. But the majority of white blokes dont make it either. Yet it seems when an indig bloke doesnt make it its cos hes indig. Probably just not quite good enough (with the exception of Liam Jurrah who was good enough - but where indig issues have certainly played a part). I think one thing is not to lump them in all together. Most indig kids are just regular city kids who probably know bugger all about their culture and the old ways etc and then you get a few like Liam that are seriously really living the full bush lifestyle.
But overall - if you look at the top 5 sides - then indig footy is still healthy, alive and well at AFL level.
Speaking of - Border Barry - have you heard anything about Ross T at Albury?

No so nothing IMO. He is SANFL player just as he is a VFL player.
Re: Milera asks to return to SA
If you can't break into a side that's sitting on the bottom of the ladder, then what hope do you have?
Sounds like he'd rather be playing back home in SA where he would probably be earning more money in the SANFL, than playing out his days at Sandy wondering whether or not he'd ever get another game for the Saints.

To be honest he would be earning no where near what he would earn in his last year at the saints but obviously wants to go back home. The club wont stand in his way and are probably happy to be honest. saves paying him out for a year.

He's a loss for Sandy who will miss him.
An excellent VFL standard player.

Re: Milera asks to return to SA
maybe this decision may save another borderliner's career.
Someone for example like a Markworth who may be was looking at the chopping block might get one further year.
Don't know who but one decision can affect many at this time of the year.
Good luck Milera

Yeah you're right there Plugger. Maybe money isn't the issue with him then, it's all to do with happiness!!plugger66 wrote:bigballs wrote:If you can't break into a side that's sitting on the bottom of the ladder, then what hope do you have?

Re: Milera asks to return to SA
Can someone explain to me why he got a 2 year extended contract last year when there were rumours he wanted to go back to SA?

Re: Milera asks to return to SA
This + not to mention he's a fringe player at best who is not young. Surely a 1 year contract would have sufficed unless there were other clubs circling (there wouldn't have been!)...same goes for Tom Lee, unless other clubs were offering better deals (I doubt it) why not just keep unproven players on one yr deals?! I didn't get it with milera, Siposs or Lee...noob wrote:Can someone explain to me why he got a 2 year extended contract last year when there were rumours he wanted to go back to SA?

Thanks Tezza.
There were some real highlights along the way. You wore the guernsey with pride.
I hope it works out back home.

Pelchen, still not sold.
On the original deal or some of the contract decisions of late.

Re: Milera asks to return to SA
Thought he had flair, which is something the team needs. Thought he was underappreciated. Will probably star at Port. Surprised at some of the vitriol here.
