Yes it was at Western Oval,I was there and we thought how good is this guy going to be,talking in the car on the way home we came to the conclusion not to get too carried away, opposition wasn't much and everyone seemed to be getting amongst the goals.Anyway good luck to him great debut...............terrible name but

Right, but he'd already played one game for Port - by kosi's original criteria I was only using guys who played their very first game for us.
Did not know he debuted at Port. Thanks for the clarification.
A couple of Murray's 4 goals were quite fortuitous that day, from the goal square if I remember correctly.. In any case, a good club debut, but I reckon Spence has a bit more of a career ahead of him than Budge ended up forging.

Great list Bergholt, but some of them had played before. Jackson, Callery, Herbert?
So I guess Spencer kicked the most goals on debut since Greg McAdam.
Fair points, obviously my visual scanning of the AFL tables data was a bit dubious!
I don't remember back that far - what was the deal with Greg McAdam? Some reason he didn't go on to bigger and better things?
I don't remember much about McAdam's debut but I do remember the next week when he scored 2 goals against Carlton out of a total of ....erm....2 goals.

That could be my brothers fault. He spoke to him briefly at the season launch. Probably Jacks first club duties away from training. I watched young Jack slowly, slowly back away from the maniacal stare of a man who has been waiting a long time to see a flag...

After a good debut he had a really good start to his second game. Thing I noticed watching is that he is too deep in the contest. Not sure if its a fitness issue or he times his run late. For a big fella needs to get into more contests. Plenty to work on though!
