In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Going to the game alone.
Wtf I go to all my games alone. Shout and scream and rant and rave and nobody gives a rats. Do you think people will stare at you and then you'll feel lonely and stupid. It should be just you and the footy. No one else matters during those two hours.

Re: Going to the game alone.
I go on my own all the time, i watch the game and listen to the radio, not an issue.Calais wrote:I took off work for Sunday and I'm trying to decide whether or not to go to the game.. Alone.
None of my tiger following mates are free to join me but I really want to see Lenny's last game in Melb.
Has anyone gone to a game alone before? What's it like? I got a feeling if i do go people will be looking/talking about me and I'd feel super awkward lol.
Thoughts?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Going to the game alone.
I go to most games alone, home away interstate overseas...I love it, it's just you time, don't have to deal with other people's s***
"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."
Re: Going to the game alone.
I go and see that Saints play alone nearly every week. I don't understand the issue? Just go along, enjoy watching your team play.

Cheer's for the feedback guys.
I'll be going alone. Got myself a nice ticket on the wing

If you go alone you should never be on the wing. Everyone who goes alone knows that. Rookie error.

Re: Going to the game alone.
Nothing wrong with going to the footy alone. Unless you are total wuss.
I used to attend games by myself from about the age of 10 years old. That was back in the days when the media didn't put the fear of god into parents about pedowhatzits and the like. The only time I had trouble going to the footy alone as a kid was when I once went to Victoria Park in 1987 and some Filth fans decided to yell abuse and spit at me. I used to sit or stand around the vicinity of the cheer squad so I felt like I was in like-minded company. There was a really lovely Scottish lady called Georgie, who some of you may be familiar with. She invited me sit with her kids and gave me a Saints flag to wave for a few matches. Then at the about the age of 13 or 14 I joined the CS for a few years, so I would meet up with friends there.
Lone wolf supporters FTW!

Re: Going to the game alone.
I started going on my own in the 80s cos kids I knew who went for St Kilda didnt really go for St Kilda cos they didnt wanna go, cos we we wouldnt win
and then in the 90s, no one wanted to haul arse with me out to VFL Park from their cooshy inner city existences and I didnt want to smoke bongs at half time
I get self conscious now with company at the footy.... I'd rather chew my nails, get stupid and deal with stress and elation without someone who knows me judging me....

Re: Going to the game alone.
Funny stuff! You people crack me up.
Going alone is fine...stay away from obvious d**kheads or p**sheads.
Try to get near a few friendly Saints fans to exchange colourful banter -
"That Lenny, a true servant of the Club", "That Conca, geez he's killing us" etc
Ditto the above on taking a radio.

Re: Going to the game alone.
The one piece of advice I'd pas on is that there is nothing wrong with going to a game on your own, but look for a group of like minded red, white and black, you can stand or sit near.
Safety in numbers.
In the dark old days of travelling to Victoria Park, the forward pocket of Saints supporters standing together, offered some protection.
