Went up to the GC for the game, and was lucky enough to share a cab from the hotel to the Golf Club with the club president and his wife. Walked into the golf club supporters function and Bev and her helpers immediately descended upon us and extracted money for raffle tickets in support of the club and then in walked the club president and CEO as the key speakers at the supporter function!!
Well done to Bev and Murray for doing a great job a long way from the heartland. Given how uneducated the locals appear to be in all things AFL, it only makes it more remarkable to have created such a strong supporter group.

Not guilty, I wasn't selling raffle tickets. But I'm glad to hear I trained the girls well

There aren't many (if any) subjects that I claim to be an authority on, but when it comes to Bev & Murray's love for The Saints, I can say I'm an expert.
I've enjoyed watching many, many Saints games at Mermaid Beach SLSC with Bev and Murray (and the rest of the SEQ Saints)
I can say in all honesty that you'd be hard pressed to find two more passionate Saint's people.
Their dedication to club is exceptional given their geographic separation from Moorabbin/Waverley/Docklands/Seaford.
*If you watch the video on Semper's link (0:10- 0:15) you'll see a photo of Bev with her gorgeous girls (Tara and Bec) and Lenny Hayes.
I'm proud to say that I took that pic. I know it's one of Bev's favourites.... It was at a pre-season game Saints vs Brisbane (very early 2000's)

Thanks Bakes Fan. I do love that photo. And I don't know if you remember, but my camera decided not to work at the crucial moment of my first ever photo with Lenny Hayes. Lenny being the great bloke he is, tried to fix it for me. When he couldn't do it he asked you to help. Hooked from then on.

Long ago learnt to be just a touch wary when the words Browne and drink were linked, matrix.matrix wrote:was lucky enough to share a few drinkies with bev her hubby and others during our last finals stint

Even on Lendog Sundee the bugger tried to convince me to sample his 'water bottle' when we were mid-dhurrie out back of the Victory Room.
The bottle contents looked suspiciously like chardy to me. Luckily I have an eye for these things and prefer the hops based beverages.

Re: Great story about Saint Bev, Murray and QLD Saints
I met both Bev and Murray at the Mermaid Beach S C for a Saints game after a few emails to get me there as i lived just down the road, beautiful people they are.
Went to watch a many Saints games there, including the 2009 GF where i met my future wife there after the loss, it was a win for me.
I often think that i may have never met my lovely wife if i had not ventured to that surf club to hang out with the Saints supporters on that day.
Thanks Bev and Murray.

Great story. Great effort to still live on the GC for that long!
