Re: Team vs Swans
Great to see Wright back. We'll have a pretty good rebounding backline but Shenton and/or Wright will need to play tall and get plenty of support. I'm assuming Saunders is safe for next year but who knows. Needs to really crack in.

Good to see Shaggy back.
Wrighty is the coaches pet - but I can see why. The kid just goes 100% at every contest.
Good stuff .

Great to see those three in, though Bull hasn't really had much of a go (is that ominous?) and really sorry for Minch who looks gone.bergholt wrote:IN: Saunders, Shenton, Wright

Also great (for different reasons) that Spencer and Tezza are not in!
Also must be a tad worrying for Roberton (if fit) that we picked shorter defenders over him, and that's on top of losing a tall forward/defender, coming into a game against a tall marking forwardline...? (And on a small ground.)
It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?

Looks like Jones is done and dusted.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Team vs Swans
Good selections...and a few harder bodies will be needed against the Swans.
White needs to build his confidence, and possibly getting smashed in his debut game against the Swans would not be good for him. Hopefully he can back up last weeks fine game with another good game this week for Sandy.

What the? Saunders and Murdoch are only 19 and 20! This is their second year.Dave McNamara wrote:Great to see those three in, though Bull hasn't really had much of a go (is that ominous?) and really sorry for Minch who looks gone.
For that matter, Minch is still only 20.

Unfortunately it's either upgrade or delist with Minch. Him being relegated while Shenton being promoted to the senior side is rather ominous.saint-stu wrote:bluthy wrote:I'm assuming Saunders is safe for next year but who knows. Good to see Saunders and Wright back in the team, love the way both of them go about it.

Re: Team vs Swans
quick thoughts:
1.As said Saunders is only 19.
So absolutely a keeper. He is going nowhere. Has to be kept for another two years to see how he develops.
2. Jones is gone - but a ton of respect from me . Well done to him for a great career as a mature starter. Loved his efforts and mental application. A great Sainter. Did awesome when you think about it.
3. White - Im not fussed at all if he plays this year. To be honest id be happy if we cotton woolled him now. Next year is his year hopefully.
4. Shaggy - well im a fan.
5. Wright - well he doesnt deserve a game this week - but clearly he is a coaches favourite and I CAN see why - the bloke gives 100% effort every single contest and he is a serious footy player and a serious talent. But keeping that in mind - the coaches need to be careful not to become 'under 10s' style coaches where they fall in love with the 'goer'.
6. Murdoch - may not be quite AFL standard but tries hard, can mark and has a boot - we simply have to keep him another year to assess his potential.
7. Minch - I have nfi - happy to defer to experts on this one.

It seems we will keep several likely duds, especially when you factor in Sippos and Lee.Con Gorozidis wrote:quick thoughts:

Con what do you base your comment on Wright being a coaches favourite. I have seen no reason to think that based on the few games he has played this year. By the way even in AFL footy coaches have favourites. Its human nature. I just want to know from you how you have decided Wright is one as he has hardly played under AR.

Re: Team vs Swans
Not sure about teachers pet or coaches favourite, but I think Wright is probably in our best 22 picking from a full list… so after he had built up some fitness at VFL, he comes back in.

I think Saunders is safe for at least another year. He's shown heaps of promise so gar and should be given at least another couple of years.Bluthy wrote:Great to see Wright back. Got to be honest. he seems like a one year player. Dont get the reason for 2 years at all.
