Our Older Players
SO Lenny Hayes has retired
For mine
Dempster has probably been our most solid back and we need him. Stays
We have a combination of Bruce, Gibert, Simpkin, Webster, Roberton, Geary, Delney, Wright, Savage, Newnes to name a few.
I think we need to keep at least one of Gwilt or Fisher for one more season. We're still short on talls.
My preference is Fisher as we know he can play if he gets his body right. Gwilt to me is just not a good defender.
In the midfield, Ray has been solid though up and down. CJ has been average all season minus 2 games. Ray stays, CJ goes and we continue introducing kids into the midfield
Schneider... would rather play Saunders/Milera every time. Riewoldt still does enough
So in summary
Out = Hayes, Gwilt, CJ, Schneider
Fisher, Dempster, Ray survive
Good call, bad call?

Re: Our Older Players
I think you are right, but need to keep Gwilt, for depth at the very least...
Schneider does look a little over cooked, im on the fence with him, see how he goes for the rest of the year...
have noticed that he does try to get cheap disposals by hanging around after free kicks...

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Our Older Players
No doubt some players that have had their chances will go too
TDL looks gone, Milera, Dunnell are fairly doubtful etc but this thread was specifically aimed at the older players debate that has taken place over many different threads recently

Re: Our Older Players
Not a bad assessment skeptic, though I think it all comes back to how many of the younger guys we decide are not worth persisting with and how many spaces we think we need to free up.
I would assume Hayes, Maister, Jones, TDL, Dunell are all going.
Milera, Siposs & Minchington are struggling to get games in a very weak side.
I can't see us using more than 5 picks in the draft, Weller will be upgraded, not sure about Shenton & I think Templeton can definitely stay on the rookie list for now.
If we trade out another player I can't see us de-listing too many more than those above… though Fisher & Schneider are one injury away from being finished.

Re: Our Older Players
What about Rupie (Murdoch). I reckon he's a dud also but may get one more season.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Add Maister to the out list then that's about it for the old dogs.skeptic wrote:SO Lenny Hayes has retired

5 in the draft.dragit wrote:

Pick 75 -sh would very much depend on how the club sees the depth late in the draft.
However as we will be last, the club may try and exercise the 1st pick in the PSD.
A high price Free Agent will not happen. Though a cheap one may.
However Pelchen loves to mastermind muli-player deals. So if this happens in the trading, then another player or two may be delisted.
ie
GC get 2 first round picks. Would Pelchen swap our first pick for GC's first 2 picks? The higher GC and the Cats both finish, the less tempting this is.
Or we swap pick 1 for a player and lower draft pick...etc
