Our club song

Post: # 1486521Post felix »

I've been pondering this for a while in regards to the club song I think it needs a tweak . I would like to see our colours mentioned like the catchy tigers Yellow and Black . So I've come up with this on a lazy snowy Sunday , is it any better?

Oh when the saints go marching in
Oh when the Saints go marching in
Oh how I want to be in the RED WHITE and BLACK
When the Saints go marching in .

Oh when the Saints go marching in
Oh when the Saints go marching in
Oh how I want to be at Stkilda when the Saints
Go marching in.

The change doesn't suit the tempo of the tune !

I'm not fussed about the words. I'd just like to sing it a bit more often.

I think it works, Felix. If we yell the red, white and black in the manner the tigers do, the tempo works. The song has needed a tweak for a while and I reckon this isn't a bad idea. Now all you need to do is send the club a bill for a couple of hundred gorillas to make it the complete songwriting experience. If you don't, you know some pony-tailed, advertising and marketing snake will pinch it.

The going rate is probably more like 1 cent per play, unless it's on something like spotify in which case it's more like .01 cent per play.
So over five years you might earn enough to buy a plastic cup of mid-strength.

My point was that if we hired some PR/Marketing type, it would cost us a motza. It reminds me of the Port Adelaide jumper change. The current design was submitted by a primary schoolgirl. Cost the club bugger all as it was part of a competition. The abominations they previously wore cost them many thousands of dollars from some "design gurus".

Our song contains only 14 different words. Not really Grammy material. Any change could only improve it.

Change our club song, no way, piss off. We played the club song as we carried my Dad's coffin to the hearse. No change is required.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

At least we don't have to sing " Freo way to go" hahaha! I love our little trumpet bit in the middle of the song

Sorry WW, my comment was more a reflection on the state of the music industry. The ponytails still make all the dosh.

Whole song was sung at Trevor's funeral.

Club song played at my mum's funeral.

They changed it s bit in the 80's but it was not that good.
