Re: Luke Beveridge - Director of Coaching
Bevo was a saints supporter as a kid and has a fair bit of coaching experience now so this is a great appointment.
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Re: Luke Beveridge - Director of Coaching
I don't really know what a DoC does but i hope it's another appointment that benefits the club. Maybe it pushes Pelchen a bit more into the background ?
How many people is Finnis allowed to bring into the organisation, the club must have more money than we thought.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

He points the coaching staff towards the box, then fetches Pelchens california rolls. May also be required to hose out the coaches box after the game.bobmurray wrote:I don't really know what a DoC does

I thought he might instruct the Assistant coaches not put the numbered witches hats out in numerical order but to mix them up a bit, create a bit of uncertainty.

I'm pretty sure that the Director of Assistant Coaches performs that task.bobmurray wrote:satchmo wrote:He points the coaching staff towards the box, then fetches Pelchens california rolls. played 7 games in 97 collecting 34 disposals ! probably not the return alves was after .CURLY wrote:Because he was no good would be the first reason given.SemperFidelis wrote:I like the sound of this appointment.
Comes directly from strong club with premiership credentials, but unassailable personal links to our heritage.
I don't think he played in the 1997 grand final, but can't for the life of me remember why. Others might.
Will be interesting to see how he, Richo and the Pelican line up in the box on match days.
96 and 98 he was ok but his 99 was as bad as 97 so he got the chop .

Wasn't a bad player. Was a neat finisher and played 118 AFL games.

Re: Luke Beveridge - Director of Coaching
Bevo should have spoken to Scott Watters before taking the job.
He would have found out how much of a bad organisation we are.
Richo too.
Matt Finnis as well.
They really should have spoken to Scotty. He would have told them what great clubs do and don't do.

The drink, I reckon he played a good last game for us. We had a suprise win against WeSt Coast at the WACA in round 22, I have a feeling he might have dominated. He was crying on the ground at the final siren, wasn't known to the media that he was told he would be delisted at years end

21 touches and 3 goals that night. Probably his best game for us.jonesy wrote:The drink, I reckon he played a good last game for us. Re: Luke Beveridge - Director of Coaching
Our current Director of Coaching is Neville Oliver Boddie. Many other clubs have very successful Coach Directors. Their job is to sit in the box on game day and be in constant contact with the TV Director so that he can direct our coach's performance. Here are a few examples:
“OK Chris (could be Brad), we'll be coming to you in a moment. Even if our player has pulled his opponent's head off and broken his leg, I want a look of absolute amazement as the free is paid, especially with that hands in the air flair you are so good at. Cue Brad (could be Chris)"
" OK Michael, now get prepared to take that look of benign indifference off your face, we will coming to you in moment and want a lot of yelling, jumping up and down and throwing of the phone into the wall. OK, here we come, our player has just adjusted his shorts. Cue Michael".
“OK Ross, the droll approach has been going over quite well, but this time, can be have a “FFS” as well? Cue Ross.”

How many people is Finnis allowed to bring into the organisation, the club must have more money than we thought.
We just need more sponsors and members to pay for The Beveridge.

Re: Luke Beveridge - Director of Coaching
Didn't Luke originally get a game with us because his old man John was our recruiting officer, and he asked the club to give him a go? ( seem to remember reading that somewhere)
Battler as a player, but he always gave 100%, personally I'm glad to see him with us, was told that he loves the club.
Welcome back aboard!

Don't think my memory is that bad. His father was the recruiting officer at the Saints at the end of 1995 season.plugger66 wrote:supersaints wrote:Didn't Luke originally get a game with us because his old man John was our recruiting officer, and he asked the club to give him a go? We recruited Luke then , and I'm 99% sure that John suggested he was available From the Dogs, John did absolve himself from the panel selecting his own son. I'm sure thre was an article in the papers about it?

You said he got a game because Bevo senior was the recruiting man. Im 100% disagreeing with that. He may have said he was available but im sure the saints knew that anyway.
