We have? Who?

I don't think that Minch is good enough.
Billings is more a HF/mid than a crumbing FP
That leaves Eli, who again looks more at home as a HF/Wing than FP

We have lacked an effective FP all season.

IMO guys like Eli, Curren, Saunders, Murdoch, Billings, Minchington need and should get greater opportunity rotating thought the midfield and spending time in the forward pocket improving there goal kicking sense, much like Jack Steven was developed...

As far as small forwards go, we lost two in Saad and Milney from last season. If we regain Saad that will be part of the probkem solved.

Hang in there with Sippa - he's classy, needs a good preseason, some luck with his body and will look a whole lot better in a better performing team!
Markworth has another year so we can stop naming him as a de-list, at any rate I'm not sure we would upgrade on him with a late pick in the draft...

I don't think Siposs has the athleticism required for AFL footy, but he has another year to prove otherwise, fingers crossed.
I don't think Markworth is contracted beyond this year...correct me if i'm wrong. Thought he was given an extra year (which is this year) to put his mind at ease about his comeback from ACL. He had a full season of VFL, just doesn't look likely at this stage, wans't pushing for senior selection in the worst performing team in the comp at the time (mid season)...call me shortsighted, but he's not looking at hitting 50 games until his mid 20's and thats a few years away...will the club perspevere? I'm not so sure they will, but happy to proven wrong.

Weller is a must upgrade
Minch and Shents im 50/50 with both are ok and not really easy delistings but both are not auto selections either ..
Eli will be elevated
after only 6 games can we really be sure hes a player or not ? also need to see how he recovers from his injury ... he has only been on the rookie list for one season so there is no real rush to upgrade him for the sake of upgrading him

was Saad really that great though ? his first season he was solid but the second year was a bit ho-hum plus being out of the game for a full year i dont think Saad is going to be the saviour ...

I'd go a step further on that one St W.

Jack only started showing his wares when Lenny did his knee (back half of 2011), and Ro$$y had to move Jack from the forward line and onto the ball.

In Cuddle's first year (2012) Jack had his breakout season.

Then last year (2013), Jack took that to a whole new level again. 8-)

PS: Whilst he can tag, I reckon that Curren is best as an onballer chasing his own footy. Weller is our standout best tagger, and arguably now one of the best at it in the league... and all seemingly without the need to resort to Crowley-esque illegal tactics.
IMHO Curren and Ray are also able to perform the tagging role on occasion if needed.

Sad to hear we might be delisting Dunnell, Dunnel AND Dunell

Agree. Keep Eli as a rookie. TBH his form tapered quickly and was lucky to be selected for NZ. Might have been gifted that game along with Savage for marketing reasons.

Marketing reasons would perhaps get Eli a senior spot but that would be stupid tail wagging dog stuff.

We are going to need at least another 3. Just can't see where.
Milera, Schneider gone.

Sippa and Lee extremely lucky.

Ditch Markworth.

No maybes about Dunnell and CJ. Gone for all money.

Yep good points Dave, with injury comes opportunity! I agree with your call on Weller, he's got a very good build for a tagger, strong, quick and agile, tall enough too IMO. With Lenny bowing out, let's hope guys like seb Ross, dunstan, curren and others can take ownership of the middle! I'm optimistic :-)

Grouped by chance of being around next year.

0% chance: Hayes, Dennis-Lane, Maister

25% chance: Jones, Simpkin, Dunell, Minchington

50% chance: Markworth, Schneider, Milera, Shenton

75% chance: Siposs, Ross, Montagna (trade?), Roberton, Armitage (trade?), Ray, Fisher, Gwilt

100% chance: everyone else

So that's eight or ten off the list, going on those probabilities. A couple from the rookie list so I reckon we end up with 6 to 8 free primary list spots for new players.

Ross and Sipposs are the interesting ones there. They were both drafted in the same year so it's unlikely we'd want to get rid of both but Ross just hasn't been able to put it all together and keeps getting dropped.

Sipposs hasn't really found a spot yet which at least Ross has and hasn't really shown much since his debut.

Siposs was drafted the year before Ross.

Ross has probably shown more than Siposs but they are playing different roles so hard to judge. I'm a bit concerned for Siposs. He could get Nick Winmared.

Hayes has put his hand up.

Maister out of favour with the coach and selectors and out injured for the rest of the season was "persuaded" to call an early end rather than wait to be "told".

So thats two.
Only one more "required".

Lets face it.
If you can't make it into the best 22 of this St Kilda side after a few years you simply are not of AFL standard.
The only question to be answered is who are you?

Totally agree.

I also think Minchington has shown enough to remain on the list, going forward I think he offers something!
