Big game from Big Boy
Great to see Big Boy have a fantastic game for the Hawks. His dominance in the ruck and some crucial grabs in the last quarter played a major role in the Hawks coming through.
Glad to see him having success. Looks like the deal could be a win for both clubs.

Fantastic? I thought he was okay/fair, nothing to write home about though. Took 1 contested mark for the game.
Good luck to him though, I certainly won't begrudge him a flag if that happens.

Anything to stop lovechild Swans from winning the flag will do. Hate them possibly more than Freo.

Re: Big game from Big Boy
Actually thought he was struggling to half time, getting beaten by pike in the hit outs and doing next to nothing around the ground, actually thought he might don the red vest over Ceglar...to his credit he got better as the game went on including a good mark in the last quarter, more industrious around the ground as a link man, and better hit outs... His marking isn't back to its best after an injury interrupted season, but if he stays fit I think he'll peak at the business end of the season...IMO

Was at the swans/hawks game tonight and thought Big Mac was fairly invisible until the last qtr. Thought he lifted immensely in the last Quarter. Did a great job getting first touch in ruck against Pike and feeding ball to Hawks midfield. Seemed to have a bit more presence around the ground in last qtr as well, nothing remarkable but helped keep ball in Hawks attacking half

Re: Big game from Big Boy
Up until he took that mark in the last quarter I was thinking to myself that the Hawks needed more from him, he looked slow and well off the pace and not getting to enough contests in that third quarter when the Swans were on top.
I reckon he only comes into a game - usually in the last quarter - when everyone else tires which is obviously the case for the tall blokes but I just reckon that makes him a low percentages type player. Hope he goes ok this year and would love to see the bloke win a flag with the Hawks.

Why do you hate Freo? Why is life for you about hate?

Re: Big game from Big Boy
P66, it seems to me that rather than trying to emulate clubs like Sydney, Geelong, Hawthorn and Freo, some prefer to "hate" them. Rather than waste energy on "hating" other clubs, I prefer " loving" the Saints! But everyone is entitled to their opinion. ( even you and I it would seem! )

one way of commenting on a non-Saints game without calls to move to opposition forum is to relate back to former Saints.matrix wrote:he's gone

Re: Big game from Big Boy
I'd say he broke even with Pyke. In any event, well done to him, always liked him and still do.
As to those who criticise why supporters hate other clubs, I'll just say this. I don't generally hate other clubs, but Sydney is the current exception. They have gone from being a blue collar, hard working, admirable club to rich snobs who are buying success - there is no two ways about it: they are buying success. Even if I did not care for the AFL, my sense of justice simply does not allow me to accept the massive advantages that Sydney enjoy over the rest of the competition. It is wrong, it is unfair, and the AFL loses integrity because of it. Sydney deserve no honour and no respect whatsoever in my eyes.
So when Hawthorn, a brilliantly successful team who have had no advantages and simply risen to the top by virtue of hard work and shrewd operating can beat Sydney, I feel very satisfied.
I greatly admire Hawthorn, I find Sydney unpalatable.

This is not a saints thread - sung to this is not a love song.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
