How will the Suns respond?

Post: # 1484641Post Saint wagga »

Are the young Sun's in free fall without Gaz and your a brave man knowing how they're going to respond next week when our boys head up there!! The wheels seem to be falling off, but I hope we don't cop the massive backlash response next week up there at Metricon...I guess only time will tell, but we just have to bring the same intensity and hunger...thoughts from others...

Can' control how the Suns respond, but the Saints can manage their response. Up to the boys to harass, pressure, and control their actions. Outcome yet to be determned

They received a massive whack from Bluey so it's going to be interesting.

I'm sure the AFL can lend some assistance as I'm sure the AFL business plan has GC playing finals this season.

I think the first part of your post says it all, St. Wagga. They are cooked, with a long season and the loss of their great champion combining to hobble them. A great chance for us to pinch another win. They will struggle to notch another win this year. Watch out for them next year, though!

Don't know how the Suns will respond but I just hope we turn up. If we can smash Fremantle surely we can be at least competitive against this mob.

Played on a heavy track too, and lost two quality talls. This is very winnable now, who would of thought that 8 days ago

Safe to say the B@stard Sons will get the rub of the green next week.
They'll be playing with an extra man.

It'll also be interesting to see how we respond after a big win and a week off.

Will it freshen up the players or will we lose our momentum after a moral boosting win.

You would like to see the saints play with the tenacity and skill they showed against freo however we are playing them at night and history shows us that we get either wet or greasy conditions when we play at night in Qld.
If we can handle it then we're a good chance .

The umpires advisor is already discussing interpretations of the rules of the game with coaching staff.

It will be very interesting to see who "comes to play." With our great win against Freo, you would think that we have the momentum going for us.

What will be greasy conditions, may test our ability to handle the ball cleanly.

Fingers crossed

Weather is gonna be fine up here all week, reaching 26 on Friday though the nights will be cool with lows of 4 in some areas.

Game day is forecast for 22 and fine. It's been very dry here for weeks - apart from a big storm last night - so the traditional greasy Metricon may not happen

I'm hoping that the Saints can come out of the blocks with the same velocity and intent that we saw against Freo. IF we get a good start, then we're a definite chance for the win. But the OP raises a very pertinent question. Onya wagga!

Well it took AR and co months to wake up to the fact that opposition outside runners and indirect footy was killing us, and that seemed to be corrected against Freo, so no excuses against the GC

Dont we play against other sides? maybe they counter acted our game and were just better. To me the difference last week was our older players were very good as were our skills. Nothing else seemed to change much at all. its funny that when we win people think the coach coached better.

yeah agreed. The Freo pressure was no existent.

Even in games when we have been pumped by the opposition, we have looked like a capable footy team once they take the pressure off in the 4th quarter.

Real AFL pressure and we crack.

Still I will be disappointed if we dont bring the pressure WE put on last week to every game.

That is the minimum requirement.

Just don't call those biased corrupt pricks sub species. Especially number 25 who we all know hates us.

What a sad and angry man you come across sometimes. Managed to call umpires biased, corrupt, sub species all in the one thread. And again mentioned hate. All good.

I think the best idea is to ignore these silly outbursts. It is obvious it is for attention, and brings nothing to the conversation.

I will agree though the umpire 25 is incompetent and has given numerous free kicks directly in front of our goals while allowing the exact same indescretions go as PLAY ON, when it is down the other end.

The game against North was hilarious in its incompetency. He pings Jimmy Gwilt right in front of our goal for being third man in and holding the ball in (even though when he blew the free goal to North Gwilt had the ball free and was on his way out of defence). OK if thats the intrepretation all game fair enough.

However not one more holding the ball free was given by him or any of his mates for third man in holding the ball for the rest of the entire game even though it happened at almost ever contest.

The umpire is a grandstanding dimwit who should be shown the door. Is totally inconsitent in his rulings, allows blatant frees against our defence 15 metres out from goal, but does not apply the same ruling up the other end.

I have watched this umpire closely and he does it every time we are unfortunate enough to have him.

He must be the work experience umpire because he is hopeless.

Back on topic, just for a second :)
What has been our best 1 or 2 efforts this year away from home (not necessarily a win).
Whether or not it's the Lyon factor, we have done well against Freo & our most likely wins are normally 'inside' with or without the roof.

Regardless of whether we notch up a win against the Suns, I just hope we show continued consistency, particularly on the road.

If we don't have hope. All is lost.

I am looking forward to seeing my first game at the GC and hopefully we can put up a similar effort against Fremantle...constant pressure and run..run...run...hit the target and be rewarded with goals. Maintaining it over 4 quarters will be the key however. Anyone else going up...where is everyone sitting, so I can cheer with other sainters! I haven't booked my tickets...there should be plenty on the night...hopefully?
