Lenny Hayes - the coach

Post: # 1482839Post SainterK »

Clearly can get an entire side playing for him.

That box is ticked.

Can see why Richmond are massively into him.

Needs to learn the Coaching Trade first. Lets hope that we respect what he can deliver and not have another Robert Harvey situation where he takes his expertise elsewhere, to others who appreciate what he can give.

Would Damien know?

Or could the football department be beefing up the coaching department just in case?

I would hope Damien knows if you know. Are you serious?

Didn't he say that the club have offered him a role?

All our ruckmen seem to have improved this year. Jolly seems to be doing a good job.

Lenny will have a long list of suitors. Our club, but just one.

One thing though is that for next year is that he has stated that he may take time off to do things with his family.

So he may be torn between that, and n especially a very tempting role.

He would still gain offers in 2016 though without a doubt.

Sign him up as coach for next year ala Kenny Sheldon in 1989. Sorry Richo!

Lenny will never be an AFL coach (but assistant a certainty) for the same reason that Robert Harvey hasn't been. The following current or ex Saints players from the last fifteen years would possibly make a successful AFL coach:

Nick Riewoldt

What the hell is that based on? The funny thing is Rooy has no interest in coaching and doesnt strike me as a coach anyway. And why link haves and Lenny?

Give Richo a few years, but if not successful - Harvey coach, Hayes assistant.

I REALLY hope Lenny coaches at St Kilda. Its bad enough having to see Harves running around in Collinwood gear, please don't do that to us Lenny.

Love it if they kept him on as a specialist mentor working one on one with individual players, while he practices the ins and outs of game day tactics etc

Usually back pocket players make the best coaches. I reckon Stevie Baker is the man for the job.

I'd like to see Lenny embark on a coaching career by getting his coach's accreditation 1st (or starting the process as a 1st step). I reckon J.T. Jabber might just have made the days of the legend going straight into coaching, without the accompanying education and broadening, as a 1st or complementary effort, entirely redundant.

I think it was Clarkson who emphasised the need. He's mostly a pillock, Clarkson, but he's on a reasonable footing to talk about direction and development.

Well if any Saints player is going to come back and coach us, they have to learn the trade by working at a few other clubs first… The idea that Harv's is a traitor for working at other clubs is just childish.

Can't imagine Lenny wanting to be a head coach to be honest, he'd probably make a very good assistant though.
