Not even sure that Shents will there next year.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Germany would probably get more goals against us - playing footy.Bunk_Moreland wrote:He was.PJ wrote:thought he was in the best last week?st_Trav_ofWA wrote:gotta wonder bout Gwilt still getting games ... honestly would rather keep Shenton in and remove Gwilt ..
The big question is though, will we score more goals than Germany did in the World Cup final.

All the more reason to keep him.Sobraz wrote:I know for a fact Carlton are interested and have made contact re. Shents.
I would be very unhappy to lose him at this stage.

Why is shents out of favior, the only one in the backline thats takes them on .All the the others look sideways and take the easy option..

I think that AR is looking closely at the defensive side of many players, although Shenton shows dash, he does run away from his man and we have seen the damage that loose outside players have done in many games, especially in their forward lines. I would say that players have been given specific instructions on how to play, and those who don't do it get dropped until they sort their game out in the VFL.

could do with jack back though..

I think they've made a decision on Shenton. Not sure which way it went but presumably there's no need to see more of him this year. On the other hand Roberton, Gwilt and Fisher are all still up in the air for various reasons, so they need to be picked until a decision is made.thesaint3 wrote:Why is shents out of favior, the only one in the backline thats takes them on .All the the others look sideways and take the easy option..

Agreed Firey! The Fireman wrote:I would be putting more games into Shenton.
Hopefully it's coz they want to have a good look at Roberton and Sam F to see if their bodies are still up to it.
Would have given Ross another game, especially back home, and against this opponent.
Good though that Saunders is back.
I guess that Dunstan, Ledger, Weller and Ross all together makes for too slow a midfield...? (Especially with Jack Dud out, and Monty in BJ/Dal-esque cruise-mode. )
Looks like Sam Dunnell is done for.

Re: Round 18 team v Dockers
problem with Shenton is he doesn't put his head over the ball and isn't a damaging user of the ball - plays it safe. he can run with the ball ok and has fine skills and fitness. but I worry when it matters can he produce outstanding efforts - like we have seen from Webster and Geary.
i'd be surprised if he gets delisted because we have space to keep him on for another year no worries.

Shenton is ahead of Webster ATM IMO. Webster still makes mistakes but you give him some slack due to age and experience. Gears is a great competitor but is an absolute butcher under heavy pressure. Shenton is probably more of a run and carry player than the other two though who are both more intercept players. Shenton and Roberton are probably the two who can't play in the same team. Roberton is taller and Shenton is quicker. Shenton's best qualities are his attacking play and speed, probably like Grammy he can get caught out trying to be a bit creative, leaving others under pressure when he leaves the area to attack.
