Bruce up forward?

Post: # 1481298Post sainters85 »

Would hope that he gets selected into the senior squad this week.. should have been selected weeks ago but not sure why.. would be good if he could play up forward as there is no one there except for Riewoldt, hopefully the team has really been focusing on accuracy in front of goal, we'll be ok againts Freo if we get that right

Roo to the wing, and Bruce and Stanley up forward.

We've got to get Roo further up the ground so we can get a look at these blokes, when they're the primary targets!!!

Why not? I was most impressed with Bruce at the Sandy game (V Port Melbourne)

He gets a lot of the ball.. kicking is a bit of a problem like with the whole team (2.4) If he can get the kicking right he'll be a good forward target to take the pressure off Roo. Thing was, he was drafted to be a tall defender for us so if he becomes a key forward, we'll have to find another tall key defender

He did when he picked different guys a few weeks ago and got a pasting on here. Thats the problem. If he tries something different and it doesnt work there are people on here who say he cant coach. Id be playing all of Bruce, Stanley and Rooy on the forward line.

Me too.

Who cares if Bruce was recruited as a back. If he does well in the 2s as a forward well, why not?

I think strong marking options are good for us atm and the Bruce can take a mark. We are getting cut up too easily when marks aren't taken in the forward line - exit pressure is not good and the ball moves out of our forward 50 faster than free food at a journalists lunch.

Coaches are thinking that up forward may be the place for him as the thought is that he is not quite up to the mental demands of being a backman.
He will be picked as a forward this week.
Hmmmmmmm

Well I should rephrase that, he will be in the side and will play forward, not sure where he will be named in the team sheet.

Supposedly he has a lot of trouble learning the required structures down back.

He was always emphasised as a swingman so we all assumed the area we needed was another tall backman. We might just need Aiden Corr or Kristian Jaksche to help us out then.

My money would be on Jaksche but either would do.

I have been surprised by how strong his hands are. He is a really strong contested mark. His set shots are really woeful he missed a few sitters yesterday

Well lets hope that like Loewe that he can turn his kicking around.

And yes I agree that he does look to have great marking ability.

He was an All Australian under 18 as a centre half forward.

Took the most contested marks during the championships.

Can't kick… so will slot in seamlessly, just need Jones, Saunders, Gilbert & Gears to straighten us up.

Tried against Carlton for about 10 minutes and soon realised that didnt work. I think that game preoved Roo could never play on the wing because of one really important thing. His ability to grab the ball below his knees is completely gone. Pretty important that skill for an onballer.

I would bring in Bruce and White. Play Bruce, White and Stanley up forward, Roo at halfback/wing. Would be fun to watch on what will be a tough day anyway.
